Good morning, everyone!

It is a quiet morning here in mid-Michigan.  It looks like rain is in the forecast and that is ok as it has been a while since we had any.  Sue likes it because she can take a day off from watering her flowers.  We have appointments this morning to give blood.  We try to do it on a regular basis, but surgeries and cruises did get in the way a bit. After that I want to pick up some paint for the outside lamp post and I'm going to try to get the old light off so I can put the new one on.  The old one is as ugly as they make them.  The new one has a photo eye so it will come on at dusk and go off at dawn.  I won't have to mess with remembering to turn the outside lights on or off.  I want them on at night as there are no street lights.

Today's meal is an easy sheet pan meal, so all is cooked on one pan quickly and easily.  I'm not a fan of lamb unless it is seasoned well.  When I was a kid my parents got me to eat it with lots of mint jelly.  This first one uses lemon, garlic, and rosemary.  If  you don't like the vegetables pictured, substitute veggies to your liking.  https://www.aheadofthyme.com/sheet-pan-lamb-chops/

Safe travels home for @StLouisCruisers Sandi and Dennis.  Hoping that all the tests are favorable for @Quartzsite Cruiser Lenda's DH.  Best wishes for Stephanie, @1ANGELCAT's friend.   I am getting excited for @rafinmd Roy and his upcoming cruise.  It sounds like @lindaler has an exciting adventure ahead. @smitty34877 Terry, I hope the days are getting lighter for you as you and the family adjust to your new normal.  Hugs!

Wishing everyone a great day!

@kazu Can’t you just put a couple of heavy blankets over your bulbs and leave outdoors overnight?

Not sure, Bruce.  I’ve never tried it as the cold air comes up through the deck, too.

If the bulbs were in the earth, it would be ok, but they are bare (or as bare as I can get them and drying - so no protection at all.   I am half poo-poo’ing the frost warning looking at the hourly forecast.  I’ll decide later on.

Good Morning from a warm and sunny day at the beach

Weatherman says rain but said the same thing yesterday and nothing

I went to Freeport on my first cruise back in 1974. It was a 5 day out of Miami. Stayed overnite in Nassau and overnite in Freeport. Was with my college girlfriends and had a great time. Things certainly have changed!

DH speaks 5 languages. I only know a few swears in Gaelic from my Irish grandmother.

     @StLouisCruisers Safe travels home.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Hope you receive good reports from DH tests.

@rafinmd  Very excited for you with your uocoming adventure. Will be following along.

Stay safe and enjoy today

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  I often wish I knew more languages, but if we're going to new countries, I try to learn a few words of greeting and gratitude before we go.  Yay for Johnny Appleseed.  We are blessed to have a good family, but I often say we put the fun in dysfunctional.

We had a stop in Freeport on December 28, 1999 when the Carnival Paradise was diverted there to allegedly repair an engine issue.  What a joke - there was nothing available for us, so a few kiosks hastily appeared on the dock, while the cruise line arranged for a bus to the casino.  The repairs were never made and to sum it up, we ended up on a millennium cruise to nowhere.

It's a beautiful but breezy morning out there for us - that means we'll be getting more leaves on the lawn.  Just looking at the forecast makes me happy because we're expecting a high of +29 (84) which, for late September, is lovely.  It should start cooling off later this week, but unlike @kazu, there isn't frost in the offing in the next week or so.

DH is feeling better (which is a great relief), and yesterday drove for the first time.  He said it felt good being back in the driver's seat again, although he didn't mind being chauffeured around.  His son called last night to say he was going out to his acreage today, so will stop by later this morning and the two of them will go out together.  That time will give me a chance to get some house cleaning and laundry done without DH wanting to help.

@Quartzsite Cruiser good luck to DH with his tests today; I hope all goes well.

@StLouisCruiserssafe travels to you.

I'm going to pass on the drink, the wine, and I know I'd like today's menu suggestion, but DH doesn't eat lamb, so will have to get my fix on a BHB.  Because it's so nice weather wise I'm going to get DH to barbecue some pork chops for us that we can enjoy along with corn on the cob and coleslaw on the deck tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, cheers to all with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Gerry

Good morning Daily-ites.

A beautiful morning here in Georgetown. Warming to 94 and the next 10 days are mid 90's. It's been hellish this summer. We continue having strict water requirements yet there is building going on everywhere you turn. Makes one just nut-up.

Lenda thinking of you and DH today. Terry @smitty34877 prayers lifted to you and family.

Fly safely Sandi. Jacqui hoping the bulbs dry out.

Today I'll be doing yard cleanup from the storm. I read where the new car lots in Round Rock were badly damaged by baseball size hail.

I like lamb chops, but I don't think I'd enjoy the sheet pan version. On and off the grill with baked potatoes and a salad and I'm a happy girl.

image.png.01ac5570b845e53e59795f0e5b5f7580.png

My mother's family came from Bohemia and thru Ellis Island.  They were farmers and left everything behind. My great grandfather ended up in a foundry line bound for Chicago. It wasn't til year's later my uncle bought a plot of land for him and he was able to farm again. I could speak Bohemian well but have only old phrases and words I recall.

Off to get chores started. Blessings to you today.

Good morning from a clear central Texas.  It is 71F and feels like 71F.  The humidity is 95% with a dew point of 69F, so the humidity should drop as it warms up today.  Our high today should be about 92F with no real chance of rain.  The forecast for Dallas is the same, so @StLouisCruisers Sandi and her DH should have no problems at DFW as far as the weather is concerned.  Wishing them a safe flight to Atlanta and drive home.  Since the first appointment in Dallas today is at 11:15 am we can leave a bit later and hopefully miss the worst of the traffic.

Today there are three good days to celebrate.  I wish I was better at learning other languages, but I know only a little Spanish.  That and the Latin I took in college helps some in Europe to translate signs.  Johnny Appleseed and Family Day are important.

I like today's quote and the following paragraph that Tina @0106 provided.  I am remiss in not thanking all the regular contributors to the Daily often, especially Rich @richwmn, Ann @cat shepard, Dixie @summer slope, Debbie @dfish, Vanessa @JazzyV, and @StLouisCruisers Sandi for their special contributions.  I am honored to be part of this family on CC.  Everyone here was a life line during the Covid lockdown and getting back to normal, and a safe place the past two years with DH's surgeries.  Hopefully, Thursday's procedure will to the final hurdle.  I'll celebrate my family and my Daily family not only today, but everyday.

The lamb chops sound good, but DH is not a fan, so we'll pass.  I'll get my lamb chops on a BHB.  We'll also pass on the drink and the wine.

We have not been to Freeport, only Nassau and a couple of private islands including Half Moon Cay.

Two important days in history to celebrate.

Rich, thanks for letting us know who provided today's quote.

Jacqui, I hope this is the last time you need to make changes for your upcoming cruise.  I hope you get the bulbs out to dry and back inside safely.

Vanessa, thank you for including us on the Lists today.

Lorraine, I'm sorry the yard guys didn't show up yesterday.  Hopefully, they'll get the over seeding done today.

Safe travels tomorrow, Penny.  I loved the Texas meme.

Our flight is delayed because the incoming plane left Atlanta late. I don’t see any bad weather so who knows why it’s late. We will get home eventually. Just chillin’ here at DFW.

Sandi, when we flew to Atlanta in 2019, the plane from Atlanta and to Atlanta wash late more that half the time for the two weeks before we flew out.  I thino it's just a thing with those flights.

Prayers for Amazing results Lenda! Safe travels. Hugs Terry!  Hope Lorraine!

Made great progress with trust attorney yesterday!  Should have been 3 months ago but here we are…. we’ll have something we think the new community will approve.

Off to the investments office for figuring out how we’ll pay the entrance fee for our new place!  That’s why we saved it I guess….

Have been to Freeport several times. I think the first time we visited a fort. The rest is a blur.

I’m not good with languages but have successfully used a bit of my high school French in several parts of the world. DH is absolutely terrible with languages but he proudly mastered ordering 2 scoops of chocolate gelato anywhere in Italy!  🤣

Blessing to all!  Safe travels Nancy, Sandi, all who are away!  So excited for all our cruisers. Counting the days down for those fast approaching sailaway!

Wishing peace in our country and yours and around the globe!

Families, language and Mr Applseed are all worthy of celebration.

Pass on the food & drink.

Have been to Freeport right after the Restart.

The history days are indeed remarkable  - I would love to go all the way around the 🌎

Weather was chilly 34° and foggy here in St John, NB. I think there's ice in the river.

Good morning all. Cruising has gotten so stressful.  First it was threats of an airline strike and now a government shut down the day I fly out.  The cruise itself will be wonderful but getting there is stressing me. All I can do is pray.  This time next week I should be sitting in a lounger on deck in the Pacific ocean relaxing.

Well our plane has landed and is arriving at the gate as I type. The gate agent said the fight was “light” and they had to load sand on it to balance it. First time I’ve heard that excuse for a big jet and first flight I’ve heard of not completely full in several years.

What a day so far!

Edited to say the plane our flight will be on has just arrived. We are still waiting at the gate for our flight to Atlanta to board and depart.

Good morning all.

Happy Tuesday.

Thank you to Rich for the Daily and Fleet Report.  It is always a welcome sight every morning.

Thank you to Vanessa for your diligence in keeping up with all that is going on in our lives.

Thank you to Ann, Debbie an Dixie to making sure that we are fed and hydrated.

i like the quote.  Gratitude is so important.

As for the days.  They are great. I am blessed to have learned Spanish and speak it fluently.  I know some Italian from my heritage.  My grandmother lived with us and only spoke Italian.  Unfortunately I did not keep it up, but do understand it.  I can read French.

As for Family—most of mine is no longer with us—at least on my mother’s side.  As for my Father’s side, I don’t know them. Wish that could have been different.

I write this as I sit in the hair salon waiting for my hair to process.  Then I will be home and tackle some ironing that I have put off forever.

I really am very happy with the purchases yesterday for our home.  We just hit it right.  Can’t wait until we get it all together.  Slowly but surely.

Prayers for everyone—Especially Baby Murphy and her family as they continue to go through this difficult time and make so many decisions.

@rafinmd I hope you enjoy your cruise.  I will follow along.  Make sure you get plenty of rest.  Let them take care of you.

Bon Voyage to all ready to sail.

Cheers to those celebrating.

Have a wonderful day and

God Bless,

Terri

There’s no ice in the Saint John River.  There may be a few chunks in the Bay of Fundy (which is what I think your pics are of) that have floated down from an Iceberg, etc further North.  It is not cold enough for any ice in the rivers to form here yet 😉  it shouldn’t be cold enough for ice for a few months - at least, I sure hope not.

Good morning to all. It continues to rain here and sort of matches the mood of the house. We are adjusting to the new normal but it certainly is hard. Tana has had some respiratory distress and her oxygen has had to be increased. The lovely aide we had has taken another job with more pay. It is completely understandable but forces us to look yet again for someone else.

I am fluent in Spanish and know a few words of Swedish. I also learned a lot of Yiddish words from DH and his family. They are surprisingly apt. Lou told me in his last days that his illness had been a kine hara(nightmare). He was so right about that.

Only two in the group like lamb so I tend not to make it. I love sheet pan recipes though, thanks @dfish, Debbie. I appreciate your kind support as well. Thanks to all who are thinking of us. We all appreciate  it. Today I am making a bean and pasta soup for dinner. It is chilly here so will be nice to eat later.

I love to see the long lists of upcoming cruisers and it is fun to read reports of those who are at sea now.

Safe travels to all.

Good Tuesday morning everyone. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet report.

Rainy again today and chilly. Had the plumber out looking at the sump pump. Battery for the backup being replaced but if the problem continues, they may have to dig the pump opening deeper to bring up to current standards. Will be costly. The joys of a homeowner.

Working from home today as well.

Thinking of all on the care list.

Celebrating with all who are celebrating.

Have a safe and healthy day.

Good morning, and thank you for the Daily   Love the days today. And the quote …And the following lines from @0106

We have a short day in Seattle , all aboard at 3:30, then Honolulu bound.

The rain stopped before we departed Vancouver last night, and a few dozen of us were up on deck as we proceeded under the Lion’s Gate Bridge.  Wow, loved it!

I’m thinking about taking a taxi to Pike Place Market - but not sure where to get a taxi back to port. Anyone have an idea? Uber probably

@Quartzsite Cruiser, hope your drive to Dallas is smooth, and DH procedure goes well.

@Haljo1935 that is cold - and ice in the river already 😱   Brrrr.

@smitty34877 prayers and hugs.

A couple of last minute things from yesterday's Daily.  Thanks, Bruce @aliaschief for the heads up on ordering the new covid tests.  Got an email confirming my order this morning.  Tony @sailingdutchy mentioned TSA confiscating two jars of peanut butter in his carry on luggage.  Not sure if they still do it, but they confiscated my tooth paste once.  The limit on weight for "liquids" is 3.4 ounces.  The tooth paste I get from Costco weighs 5.8 ounces.  Something to think about on your next flight.

Good morning all!

I learned French in school -- living in CA, Spanish was the language most chose, but I always knew I wanted to go to France some day.   I've always been able to "get by" all over France and in some small villages where English isn't well known.  DH took a little German in the military because he was supposed to be sent to Germany.  Nope, he was sent to Viet Nam instead...

Since Washington is the "Apple State", we appreciate Johnny Appleseed here.  I have a loving and close family, they're all dear to me.

Interesting quote.  One of my (small) pet peeves is when I offer some advice or answer someone's question on CC (not this thread) or FB and my post is completely ignored, much less get a thank-you.  Like I said, small pet peeve, but a little annoying.

Love, love a good Viognier, no thanks to the drink, and the meal looks yummy.  We love lamb chops, but don't usually have them at home -- so very special on a BHB.

Today I'll be driving north to Mount Vernon to have lunch with my BFF.  The forecast is for more rain and even wind, so we most likely won't be taking our usual walk after lunch.

Safe travels Sandi @StLouisCruisers!

Hoping for good news from your DH's tests Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser

Roy @rafinmd I'm excited for you about your cruise!

Terry @smitty34877 Sending more hugs and prayers.
