Travel update:  made it to SLC but my flight to Paris is delayed. Arriving about 45 min late but my layover there was 4 hours so now it’s just about 3 hours. I guess our original plane had mechanical problems and they switched it out for a plane coming in from Amsterdam. Glad they figured it out before hand!!!  Off to Paris!!

Good afternoon.  Not much going on since we are more or less stuck at the hotel.  I did walk over the the convenience store at the gas station across the road to get some Dr. Peppers.  Later, I'll head back to McDonalds for our supper.

We had a phone call from our younger DD, and enjoyed visiting with her.  They have been updating their house this year.  Earlier, they had a new roof put one.  They just finished having the house painted.  She sent pictures, and their brown house is now white.  That is quite a change, but it looks good.

The only hitch today, is even though I said something to housekeeping twice about wanting our room cleaned, we're still waiting.  We think since most people are only here for one night, they are doing all the vacated rooms first to have them ready by the 3 pm check in time.  On our floor, they didn't get close to finishing by 3 pm.  We don't need much, just the beds and bathroom freshened and the trash emptied.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

3 interesting days. I've never had chicken fried steak. Funny quote. The meal is a good side dish. Pass on the drink and wine. I've never been to Oman. 2 good days in history.

It's another chilly day in the 50's, but some sun. It will warm up again next week. Nothing big going on here. I did place an order from Sam's club, that I'll pick up tomorrow. Also I can't get my wireless printer to work; I think the VPN on the PC is interfering. I've tried suggestions I read online, but still no go. BFF wants to come over to watch the last 2 episodes of the LOTR prequel on Prime. He suggested going out for a bite to eat, but my ability to taste isn't normal yet (although I can smell things) and it wouldn't be enjoyable for me, so I declined.

@StLouisCruisers Continuing to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

@Denise T Good luck with your presentation.

@cat shepard I'm sorry to hear that Bindi may have a tooth problem, and I hope the antibiotics clear it up.

@aliaschief Great photos from Oman. I love the one of you dressed like the locals.

@Haljo1935 I hope the PT is going well, despite the person who couldn't put the wrap back correctly.

@dfish Thanks for the recipes.

@cruising sister Enjoy your weekend getaway.

@ottahand7 I hope DB is feeling better today.

@RMLincoln Safe travels to MD. And I hope DH is feeling better soon.

@kazu How fun meeting someone you knew from the past. I hope you hear something about cataract surgery soon.

@ger_77 That's funny, I was just thinking I need to clear my coat tree of some of the jackets and coats. I never even took my winter down coat off it, since I didn't go anywhere last winter due to my leg pain.

@Nickelpenny Safe travels today!

@RedneckBob Is your Eurodam cruise next month still on?

@marshhawk Sorry DH's pre-op visit was hectic. And that you're dealing with all those other issues. I hope you can get a but of time for yourself.

@Quartzsite Cruiser I hope your time at the hotel passes quickly. I had heard the same thing about chicken fried steak being a derivative of German wienerschnitzel.

@durangoscots That sounds like a mess at the Thrift Store with the new manager.

@HAL Sailer Thinking of you and your DH.

Prayers for the Care List and a Toast for those Celebrating.

Vanessa, I'm glad you sense if smell is returning, and I hope your sense of taste returns soon.  We're making the best of the situation, but there's not much to do in the hotel.

Good afternoon. My brother has once again come to our rescue. He will stay until Tuesday. He reminded me about the mule our Uncle had when we were kids. He was a lot of fun and we would be treated to short rides. Neither  of us could remember his name and texted a cousin who  told us it was Ernie. Apparently Uncle Jim had a very

stubborn friend with that name.

i love potatoes in any form and would try chicken fried steak if someone else made it for me. Tonight we will have vegetarian  chili I am making in the crack pot.

@kazu, Jacqui, I am glad you have a better table situation now. I give you credit for your restraint . People can often be hard to tolerate.

@RMLincoln, Maureen, enjoy your road trip. I hope DH feels better soon.

@JazzyV, Vanessa, I hope your taste buds return soon. It seems quite variable for people post COVID.
@Sharon in AZ, sorry about the hearing aids and the wait for repairs. I think you are a very patient woman and I am sure your mom appreciates all that you do.

Take care everyone

Terry, I'm happy your brother is there this weekend and until Tuesday to help.

The last two years we were not home on Halloween, and I am not too sure I want to carve one this year.  No time.

Annie, I loved the pumpkins. I've only carved pumpkins once since the DDs left home.

I had a great visit with my DB.  His DW was there when I got there and all three of us had a good visit getting caught up since it had probably been almost three weeks since I saw my DB.  @JazzyV you can remove him from the care list, all of the prayers have done the trick.   He is getting out of bed and using his walker for the bathroom and can take walks out in the hall.  They wanted to kick him out yesterday but when he did the paralell bars he felt his legs needed more strength.   We will see if they let him stay or if his out on Monday.    My DSIL mentioned she had been to the farmer's market which was only two miles away so John and I headed there after the visit.   We were seeking tomatoes for the last BLTs for the season.  It has been so warm we got some nice ones plus beautiful yellow beans and a giant celery.  I don't like celery but it smelled so good when we drove home.

My pork loin roast smells wonderful.   I'll probably take a nap after dinner because the Colorado Buffaloes are on at 10:15 tonight and I was up until almost midnight with extra inning in the first game in the World Series.  I am rooting for the Dodgers, John is for the Yankees.

@Quartzsite Cruiser I hope that the part for your RV arrived so you can be on the road on Monday!

Nancy, the news on your DB is very encouraging, especially that he wants more PT before going home.  If that is not possible, is there a physical therapy facility near his home he can go to?

One thought about Princess.  If you want a table and love seat in the room you may have to upgrade to a mini suite.  Even veranda rooms usually don't have them and of course inside and outside cabins don't.  Try eating in room breakfast when all you have to sit on and place the tray is your bed.  So take a look at the interior pictures before you book.

Ray

Ray, except for two cruises, we've always gotten a mini-suite on the bigger Princess ships.  In our balcony and deluxe balcony, we only had a table and a fairly uncomfortable barrel chair.

Good late afternoon . It was a beautiful fairly warm but windy day.

Lucky is coming along. He’s been back to the vet  for follow up yesterday and today She wants to see him again tomorrow., still concerned about his eye infection. A new eye drop has been ordered and should be here Tuesday. He is still on a 4 hour feeding schedule and wants to eat the big kids food.

Blarssings and prayers and hugs filled with love to all on our journey.

I'm glad Lucky is improving, and I hope the vet can get the eye infection cleared up.  It looks like he's already grown some.

@Cruising-along. I was on the Discovery Princess in June and enjoyed it. The medallion technology is interesting. I didn't do O'Malley's but did do the Crown Grill and The Catch. I found that I didn't enjoy eating alone as a solo but both had good food. I particularly enjoyed The Catch. The crab cakes were delicious and probably one of the best I've ever had! I also enjoyed the dessert which was a tower of small cream puffs, etc. The steak and lobster was good as well.

For dinners I did a shared table in the dining room and that worked out well for me. It wasn't always the same people like HAL does but it did save me from eating by myself.

Stay dry!

Karen

Thanks! We're doing their equivalent of open dining.  We're going to the MDR the first night (and have reservations) and other than the 2 specialty restaurant restaurants we'll just play it by ear.  We'll be in port late several days (and overnight in SF) so may be getting dinners in port too.  We have a rental car in San Diego and are looking forward to having the long day there.  We lived there many years during DH's Navy days.

Aw, he's so adorable!!

Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser I was wondering if you have access to movies on the TV?  I hope the rest of the weekend goes as quickly as possible for you and that you can get back on the road on Monday.

I dozed in front of the TV this afternoon but only for 10 minutes.  I hope to get to bed early tonight.  As usual when I have houseguests I don't sleep well so I'm dragging today.

Today was a long day - didn't really do much but the trip to the work event was 7 hours in the car, 2 hours there. We had bought a bunch of candy beforehand because we ride on the main float in the parade, tossing candy to the onlookers. Once that ended we walked around the festival booths - lots of food trucks & other vendors, kids play area, pony rides, etc. It was HOT! Once home DH & I went to Bonefish Grill for an early dinner - they always do a nice job there.

As for the three days, they're all worthy of support. Chicken fried steak is something DH likes more than I do, but it's the calories that generally keep me away from ordering it (I'll sneak a bit of his). The potatoes look great, and pinot grigio is always a yes. No to the drink. Loved the port photos - another place I've never been!

Enjoy the rest of the day - I think I'll be turning in early. Funny how sitting in a car can be so tiring!

@kochleffelI watched the snow leopard video.  Looks like a fun day for him!  We've been to the the zoo 2x in the last few weeks, that cat is always asleep and hiding when we're there!

Sasha, who was a 6-pound house cat, had white fur with one black spot (and a tiny bit over one eye). She insisted that the snow leopards in the Central Park Zoo were her long-lost cousins and she wanted to visit them. From the photo maybe she couldn't tell how large they were. She also didn't understand that they were in a zoo and not roaming Central Park.

@superoma Silent Witness, Inspector Morse, Lewis and we very much recommend Endeavor.  We loved Vera if that gives you insight into our tastes. Britbox has been a wonderful investment for us. Let me know if you enjoy any of these. Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren is also very good but very intense.

Annie @marshhawk I'm sending you a boatload of patience and many hugs.  How you deal with everything is amazing!

Thank you to Maureen @RMLincoln, Karen @quilty964, Jacqui @kazu, Gerry @ger_77, and Vanessa @JazzyV for the kind comments today.  I've been off the Daily doing who knows what all day so am again posting late.  I did some laundry and got nothing done on the photo book.  DS arrives tomorrow afternoon and we're looking forward to it.  See you tomorrow!😴

I had forgotten DH had said Roy had posted on the Daily.  It was the same as his email update.  I deleted it from this post.

I hope they finally cleaned up your room today at the hotel.

Roy @rafinmd it was good to see you posting.  Perhaps you'll have time tomorrow to update.  Have a good night's sleep.

Good evening.  We decided to try the new spicy extra crispy deluxe chicken sandwich at McDonalds.  It was good, but very messy, and very, very spicy.

The Texas Longhorn vs Vanderbilt Commodores game was not on national tv, only the SEC channel.  DH managed to interact with our dish hopper at home and livestreamed he game.  The HORNS eked out a 3 point win.

Sandi, the short answer is no.  Late this afternoon, I looked out into the hall to see where the housekeeping duo was, only to find they'd finished and left without doing our room.  It is setup where there are two rooms next to each other on each side of the hall.  We know they cleaned the other three, before moving down the hall.  I went down the front desk, and as nicely as I could told the lady that our room had not been cleaned.  She reported it; then talked on someone in management, and was told for long term guests, the clean on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  She was not happy, and said she felt if guests asked to have their room cleaned, it should be cleaned.  Our biggest problem was that after two takeout meals, both small wastebaskets were not only full, but over flowing.  We had two shopping bags from my Dr. Pepper run this morning, and put all the trash in them and stuffed them in the trash can in the elevator lobby.  I hope you can get a good night's sleep so you will be able to enjoy your DS's visit.  Safe travels to him tomorrow.

Thank you Lenda, it's time for me to begin wrapping things up here and preparing for sleep.  I agree with you that you should have had someone check on your room since you asked them to freshen up and remove trash.  Hotels are certainly not as hospitable as they were before Covid.

@StLouisCruisers  sorry to learn of your updated health news.  Thankfully you have the weekend to make a list of your questions for the oncologist.  Sounds like they have a plan in place for you.   Sending best wishes to you, (am sure that having a positive attitude helps).

You will have good support from your family members.

@kazu  am pleased that you asked to move to a different dining table,  good to meet up with  a fellow Rotarian you that you knew a few years ago.
