dcruiser50 Posted September 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2018 Just pondering why do people choose to cruise? For me it's all about the ride, I really enjoy relaxing, people watching the shows, Dinning etc. So let's hear why you cruise?
bobg529 Posted September 22, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2018 Because I love it. There is no place I’d rather be than on a ship, sailing I don’t care where. Sailing started alone, and I loved that. Then I found the woman I love and sailing with her is even better. We can share some experiences and have time alone to reflect as well. There is always something to do, even if it’s nothing. [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Forums
tmt3698 Posted September 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2018 I like to cruise for several reasons, some places like Santorini seem a bit hard to get to if you were doing a land based trip. I love being on the ocean and love boats. I like that everything is included, your room, food some entertainment. Sometimes I don't like the time limits you have in port. I also do land based vacations and have more time to really get the feel of the place.
Doitforlove Posted September 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2018 I enjoy being able to visit many places and only unpacking once. I also live close to a port (NYC) and its nice to be on vacation immediately without the hassle of flying.

Rare All-ready2cruise Posted September 22, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 22, 2018 I cruise b/c I love the motion of the ocean, I love not having to upack and pack every few days and still be able to see so many wonderful places. I also like the security; as a solo cruiser I never feel anxious about my surroundings. It really is just a wonderful complete experience, accommodations, food, entertainment, social meetings, etc. etc. JMO

Rare www3traveler Posted September 22, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 22, 2018 All the wonderful places you get to see. All the wonderful people you meet both staff members and passengers. I love the motion of the ship including sailing through the back ends of hurricanes. Agree with All-ready2cruise, as a solo cruiser security--not having to worry about my safety on board ship. lyannea Posted September 22, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 22, 2018 (edited) Most of my vacations are as a solo, and there’s comfort with the familiar- the excitement of the first day, meeting great crew and pax, exploring new destinations, returning to the ship at the end of the day, and, best of all, being able to sleep so soundly as the captain and his officers steer the ship. Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted September 22, 2018 #11 Share Posted September 22, 2018 In my line of work I am always scheduled. Each day is very hectic and full of issues that often require quite a bit of brain power. I cruise because once I step foot on that boat, I don't have to think about a thing...except what my next drink choice will be or where I want to have dinner on any given night. I love NOT having to think about anything, to problem solve something, or to worry about my next place to be. I can just exist and let somebody else take care of all the details. And for me, an internet package is a curse, not a perk at all. My next cruise is in about 58 days...I love the build up to embarkation day and can't wait for that first cocktail. I don't really care about where the ship goes, it could do doughnuts in the gulf for all I care! Once on board, I'm totally free for a week! beautifullady Posted September 22, 2018 #12 Share Posted September 22, 2018 For me, walking up that good ole ramp to start my vaca! Looking at and hearing the ocean. Looking at the sky and water(day and night)thinking about genesis when GOD began forming the world!! Meeting friendly passengers and crew from different cultures. Not having to clean cook or work. People watching, entertainment, being in the thermal spa while sailing at the same time, and MOST OF ALL, being on a vacation PERIOD!!
Sweetnspicy Posted September 22, 2018 #13 Share Posted September 22, 2018 Regular vacations stress me out. Hotels, airports, finding things to do, restaurants, rental cars, etc. on the ship I can just throw my bag in the room and then have free roam. I don’t have to worry about getting back somewhere safely after too much to drink, I can either be super active, super lazy or anything in between all in the same day. jaja Posted September 22, 2018 #17 Share Posted September 22, 2018 What everyone else said :D I love having my "hotel" move and not me ! Love not cooking and cleaning . Love not having to fly (live near NYC) .DH and I like that we can each do our own thing or do stuff together. Great meeting staff and other PAX and seeing new ports. (with repeat ports..also love staying onboard and enjoying the quiet ship) And..there is something both very rejuvenating and calming about being at sea. PS--When going solo.("running away from home") love doing whatever I want whenever I want with out consulting anyone! (and still not cooking and cleaning;))
April42749 Posted September 22, 2018 #18 Share Posted September 22, 2018 Pretty much all the above: 1. 15 minute cab ride to pier in NYC.....no need to fly or go thru anything else involved with flying 2. Food is included...no need to search out restaurants in "foreign lands" 3. Gym is included....no need to get lazy about exercising 4. Entertainment is included 5. Various ports 6. Casino on board 7. Shopping on board 8. Lots of people to meet....and you're not "stuck" with anyone for a long time 9. Probably stuff I forgot Basically....it's like a mobile land vacation....but all included for a fraction of the cost!
NLH Arizona Posted September 22, 2018 #19 Share Posted September 22, 2018 When I was younger, I cruised to see different parts of the world. Now that I'm older, I cruise to relax, have someone make my bed and cook my meals, meet new people and people watching.
DominicAUS Posted September 23, 2018 #20 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Love how easy it is! The excitement of getting onboard, unpacking once, multiple sea days where you can just see ocean for days. Seeing different places. Doing as much or as little as you want. The entertainment, food, staff, Haven perks! It’s a stress free holiday for me. 38 days and counting

barb65 Posted September 23, 2018 #22 Share Posted September 23, 2018 I cruise because of the ship, not the destination. To me the ship is my destination ( if that makes sense).
Beachiekeen Posted September 23, 2018 #23 Share Posted September 23, 2018 We love the ease of it, love being on the water, we still cruise for ports but love having the ship as our home base. And since we unplug (no phones or internet), it’s the most relaxing vacation we take. No work, no stress, etc. We are really able to relax and reconnect which is great. It’s also a very economical vacation. So many reasons to love it!

For me it's all about the ride, I really enjoy relaxing, people watching the shows, Dinning etc. So let's hear why you cruise?
