No, you haven't lost your sense of humour. I saw him too, not funny at all unless you're under 10. I looked online to see the rest, and I was astounded by the quality of the other finalists. Utterly bemused.

We've had plenty of rain in the past 2 days and more heavy rain forecast for tomorrow. I'll try and arrange a delivery⛈️

Avril

I totally agree. I thought he was embarrassing and totally devoid of personality and talent. He seemed to make the two presenters very uncomfortable too. Total idiot. If that's the level of what people aspire to now we're all doomed!  Jane xxxx

Radio 4 Today programme. Still the only possible breakfast accompaniment.

Give Times Radio a go, a bit more informal and varied than Radio 4 but still good coverage of real news.

But only for Guardian readers.😇

Are you one of “the Guardian reading, tofu eating, wokerati”? John

Newscasters will recognise the quote. I like newscast podcast as I can cook and listen at the same time.

I try and avoid all the breakfast "news" programmes.  Same old reporters interviewing the same old faces and them asking the specialist " correspondent " what they thought the interviewee should have said...CBBC is a bit more grown up...IMVHO.🤣

We should be thankful we can watch TV in our country .

Did you know they don't have television in Afghanistan ?

It's because of the Tele-ban 🙃

Penultimate day of cruise in Victoria BC, so sad to be leaving the lovely Queen Elizabeth, but we have had a wonderful cruise which has ticked several boxes for us. We just need to diet for a few weeks before the next cruise, unless a deal crops up of course.

Good Morning All

It's absolutely hammering down with rain in my neck of the woods at the moment. It's all good because we only got light showers at the weekend when we were promised a monsoon - didn’t happen.

I'm just watching the BBC News report about the capsule that's lost near the Titanic. They showed the inside of the vessel pre this trip and it looks terrifyingly small - like an MRI scanner for 5. I do hope with all my heart these poor people can be rescued.

It's a medical week for me this week. Blood tests, x-rays and bone scans. It's nothing too serious I don't think but I have osteoporosis and I'm suffering with intense back pain so will probably need some bone strengthening treatment. I'll let you know. This is where I so miss working at the surgery. I used to get bloods done in-house, fast referrals for treatment, and a very prompt look at results. Now I'm left at the mercy of the NHS without any help from my work colleagues- It's like pulling teeth!

I know quite a few of you are sailing soon and I'm very excited for you all - app or no app. As for the cruise that @TigerB and @Presto2 will be on next year (?), "I Predict a Riot"!

My daughter has suggested that we all go on a cruise in 2025 for my 70th. So I may after all be returning to the high seas. I want to try Cunard but my granddaughters think it will be too full of old gits and they want to try.......you guessed it.....Arvia!  We'll see. I might have to pull rank here.

Since I started this lengthy post the weather has got significantly worse. Thunderbolts and lightening (very very frightening) now - still muggy though.

Have a good day everyone. Best wishes. Jane xx

Morning Jane(& everyone else), I have just been reading about the capsule. It must be terrifying for them all, let’s hope there is a good outcome for them.

It sounds like a busy week for you with all those appointments, hope the NHS deliver for you.

We have some big birthdays next year too, son in law will be 40 in June, my mum 90 in July and me 60 in August. Not sure how we are celebrating yet.

We are also sailing with Cruise Critic members next year on Arvia TA in March with Jennizor and TigerB. Should be fab!!

It is forecast rain here too at 8am then pretty much all day, we definitely need it.

Have a good day everyone

Thanks Michelle. We've got two big O birthrdays in '25. Mine at 70 and my SIL like yours will be 40, my eldest GD is 18 in October this year but wants to celebrate with us both which is sweet. Sadly my mum is no longer with me but she managed her 90th too.

I didn't realise you were also travelling with CC members. You'll have a ball!

Best wishes. Jane xx

17c and steady rain here, had an isolated 15 min heavy shower yesterday evening and the thundery showers over the last 10 days or so have revived the lawns nicely (although mine are mostly weeds and moss!).

I fear for the soles on the missing Titanic submersible, 48 hours without contact and hasn’t got back to the surface yet, not looking good.

I’m looking forward to the end of the test match today, it really is in the balance and the next session will be so important for which side will win.

Morning everyone,

Not been around much as have been recovering from last week's treatment, which addled my brian! I was OK the first couple of days before beginning to suffer, but am now on the way back up although I still feel very tired and have one or two other niggles, but nothing major.

We had all our big birthdays last year, an 80th, 40th, 90th and my 65th.

We were forecast to have rain from last night right through to this afternoon. It rained last night, but not enough, it's not raining now and doesn't look like it's going to rain soon either.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good drizzle here in Lincs. as well.  Just hope it clears up at Edgbaston for an exciting day of cricket.

On a sombre note; does anyone know how, if they should find them, the sub at the Titanic can be saved?  Presumably only by surfacing under its own power?

The one that's baffling me is how what looks to be several lorry loads of  PPE that

managed to get dumped near a nature reserve in Hampshire ?

No one seems to know ..

Where it's come from ? Who took it there  ? Up to yet , no one knows or saw anything !

Lets hope someone remembers how it got there .🤔

Probably the same way camper vans get parked in random places up here! 🤔

Good luck with your medical appointments Jane @Beckett.

I hope your back pain eases soon.

Arvia sounds a good choice for your special birthday although imo your granddaughters will prefer RCL Anthem of the sea's or any Oasis class ships.

It is raining heavily here too and it is 18°C.

Graham x.
