Good morning everyone. Thank you for the birthday wishes. It’s going to be 91 today and while it has never ever rained on my birthday, the air quality won’t be so good so thankfully between two shows most of the day will be in air conditioning. It was so nice to wake up to see my grandson sleeping here. Best birthday present this year.

Stay safe everyone,

Carol

Happy Birthday Carol!  Enjoy your special day!  Prayers for Sam’s recovery. Enjoy having your grandson staying with you.

If I was in Bar Harbor today I definitely know what I would have for lunch!😎

Let me guess - what I brought from the East Coast?  Atlantic Lobster?

We feasted on it last night 😉

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily/Fleet report.

A salute to beauticians, who keep us looking good. Forgiveness is important, although sometimes hard. I've never been in a canoe. Good quote.

I'd like the meal if I weren't watching carbs. Pass on the drink and the wine I can't afford!

I've been to Australia, but not Cairns. Looking forward to any pictures.

It's partly cloudy and warm here. There may be rain later, which we could use. My lawn is getting brown. My leg is less red. It's still swollen, I'm sure from not wearing my compression stocking and the heat. It was pain free enough this am, that I've put the stocking on today.

@grapau27 Thanks for today's sermon and the photos of your church.

@smitty34877 Good to hear that DH's gout is resolving. Prayers that Tana's cough and fever improve.

@kazu What a lovely house and environs to visit.

@mamaofami Happy Birthday!! 🎂 I hope Sam is improving and will be home soon.

@ger_77 I think they're pork rinds or chicharrones here, which many low carb folks use as a "breading".

@Nickelpenny Bon Voyage!

@StLouisCruisers I hope you two are enjoying yourselves.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

Be safe everyone!

Good morning and thanks all!
@mamaofami happy birthday,   Sorry Sam couldn’t be with you,   But glad you had a DGS for company!
@kazu looks like a lovely spot!  Hope you can enjoy your time there.
My favourite canoe memory is very unCanadian,  on the Dordogne river in 38C with gorgeous chateaux high above us,  and DH may have accidentally been dunked.
Some more Canadian scenes

A quick good afternoon.  I'm late today since I was cleaning house.  It seems today might be about the only day in several days I could get this chore done.  I am going to post my pictures from Cairns, which were posted on September 16, 2021.  Then, I'll look for @StLouisCruisers Sandi's pictures.

We were in Cairns once in 2002 on the APEC cruise on the Volendam.  As per our usual habit, we rented a car.  We drove north to Kuranda and then further north to Port Douglas.  Many of my pictures are of the rainforest and streams, but there are a few from each stop, plus a few of Cairns.  Most of the ones of Cairns were taken from the ship.

These are from our drive to Kuranda through the rainforest.  Barron Falls was also dry in 2002, so they must not have had much rain then either.

The sail away down the channel to the ocean was interesting.  We were about a quarter mile down the channel, when Captain Peter Harris got a call from Medical that a passenger needed to go to the hospital.  The ship backed down the channel to the dock.  Captain Harris told us later that it was easier and quicker to back the ship up than to turn it around.

Back on the bus for our ride back to the ship.  It was a fun day and I'm glad I went.  These days DH doesn't go on every tour with me as he prefers to relax on the ship.  It works for us to split up for a few hours so I can see what's around our ports of call.

Good afternoon again.  The only thing left to do is folding the last load of towels.  After the house was clean, I had to go up into the attic and change the a/c filter, which really needed changing.  Note to self for next year is to change the filter in April or early May when it is still cool.  I think I have finally cooled off enough to be able to take a shower.

I will celebrate my beautician today, and schedule a visit later this week.  I really miss my stylist who retired in 2020.  She had a sign on her station that read:  "I'm a Beautician, Not a Magician".   Like a lot of things, forgiveness is easier said than done.  'I've only been in a canoe once at a summer camp.  That is when I realized canoeing was not for me.

The Socrates quote is so true, and more people need realize that they don't know a lot, much less everything.

The meal looks good and I will save the recipes.  This dish was served on the Koningsdam and except for the first time, it was good.  My guess is the first cook went home and a new cook prepared the next dishes.  We'll pass on the drink.  The wine sounds lovely, but not the price. 😱

@grapau27  Graham, I enjoyed seeing the pictures of your church.  It looks so peaceful and relaxing.  If you are ever in Sydney, Nova Scotia, there is an older Anglican church not far from the pier.  When we were there in 2019, the ladies of the church had it open for visitors.  Somehow, I didn't get a picture of the outside.  I loved the simplicity of the church.  Thank you for your kind comments about todays pictures.

@mamaofami  Carol, I hope Sam is doing better and that he will be home soon.

@smitty34877  Terry, I'm glad Tana is improving, but oh my, on the fever and night time cough.  Hope things continue to improve for her.  Glad that your DH is walking better and the gout is clearing up.

@kazu  Jacqui, your friend's garden is lovely, and I hope being there with friends and family, and not having to do anything is having a restorative effect.  I loved the pictures of the M&G and Captain DD.

@HAL Sailer  Melisa, you summed up the Daily perfectly. Curt and your family remain in my thoughts.

@ger_77  Gerry, have you tried making chicken Parmigiana in the air fryer?  It has turned out well for me.

@marshhawk  Ann, DH can sympathize with you about the arm art.  They had a hard time finding a vein for the blood test and for the IV, and it made for interesting designs.

@Nickelpenny  Bon Voyage and enjoy your cruise on the Westerdam.

@1ANGELCAT  🥇 Yeah for the cats!

@JazzyV  Vanessa, I'm glad the leg is improving.

Good afternoon!  I was dragged away to church, then brunch at the golf club, and and then to the Bay to look for new underwear for Pat (he is not a "shopper"  we walk in, go directly to the product  he wants, pay for it, and walk out..)  Then home and I've been trying to do a bit of cleanup in the garden ever since,.  All the forget-me-nots had to go, plus all the bulb greenery and early stuff to cut back, then feed everything, move all pots into the courtyard, because that is all DD has agreed to water, and then give everything a good soaking.  It is 28C today, blast furnace as far as I am concerned!

If you liked J&J's "I wish I could stay here forever" sign, just look at what they have in the poolhouse  - they bid on it in the Prinsendam auction on the Grand South America and won!

Jacqui, I hope you are having a lovely, relaxing time with friends and family and can go home renewed and refreshed.

Beautician's Day - I have an appointment to get my hair cut on Thursday, I got a call yesterday to say my beautician had laryngitis, and as (she knew) I was going to be travelling, she felt I might prefer to go to someone else.  Wasn't that thoughtful of her?  Won't she be sorry, though, if I like the new girl better!

Thanks, Graham, for the sermon, we had similar in church today.  Must be the readings!

PS  Pat is feeling better, but has promised to still call the doctor tomorrow.

PPS  Happy Birthday @mamaofami!🎂

Good Morning from Bar Harbor.  Thanks for the daily fleet report.   The captain said that there was a chance of rain today. Do far the skies are clear. Today's meal suggestion sounds good.  I'm not sure what we will have for dinner. I hope everyone has a good day tonight.

how do you like parking away from the town and a bit out of sight?  I hear this is happening?

We didn’t mind it all.  The tender to and from was quick.  Since the ship was behind the island I couldn’t get a picture of it from shore.

aw okay.  I will get to see this for myself when I go in the fall on the RCI Adventure OTS.

I remember back in 2016 getting a nice shot of Anthem from the port.   guess that is now gone. I mean they want the tourist but not the sight of a ship.  oh well.  here is Anthem in 2016 so pretty

I was on Adventure last month.  I'm posting a screen shot from Marine Traffic where you can see 2 blue dots at the top which are the locations during operations of 2 of Zuiderdam's tenders and that squares with my recollection of the anchoring location.  You can see the location of the old Bar Harbor ferry dock (to Canada) but you cannot see the town and you cannot see the ship from town.

Once again I had one of those moments...watch what you pray for!  I wanted rain, I asked all of you to send rain, and it worked, we got rain.  I was driving DH to dinner, and the rain came down, and the wipers went back forth, back forth, and the wiper on the driver side broke...in two. In the rain.

We had rain again today and no one is complaining. Dogs are not thrilled with wet walks. And yes, that is dogs. I decided to keep the little Chihuahua boy. He is very shy but seems happy to follow Bandit's lead in all things. I was told he was a fussy eater. So far I have not noticed that. I think the key right now is making him feel secure. Have decided to call him "Monty" after he responded to that this afternoon. He has never responded to what I was told was his name. Can't say that I blame him.

Sounds like people on the cruises are enjoying themselves.

Take care all.
