The Fleet Report and Daily for Monday October 10th, 2022

Happy Monday!!  Thank you for the Fleet and Daily Reports.   Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends!   A strange group of days.  We spend a lot of money at our indigenous tribes' casinos.  At least there is some reparation for all that had been taken from them.    The quote is weird but I haven't read those books.   Today's cocktail looks like a winner, thanks @summer slope!    @0106the rice dish looks good too.  I learned to cook basmati rice in the method shown in photo 2 where you put thin potato slices in butter at the bottom of the rice cooking pan and then let all the liquid evaporate so the potatoes brown.  I miss basmati rice but we try to stay low carb.    Today's wine is a winner too!  Thank you Lenda for all of the great photos of Hilo and the big island.    Prayers for all on our care list.  Prayers for healing and repair for those who suffered the devastation of Fiona and Ian.  Prayers for the people of Ukraine who are dealing with Putin's retaliation.

I was up late watching the Ravens finally pull a win out of the jaws of defeat.  It was a real nail biter.  We are now alone in first place in our division.   We had two more warm days before it seems winter will set in with much below average temperatures.   I have a lot of last bit of clean up to do and since it will be so cold there is no sense spraying weed killer for lawns.     The leaves haven't really started to fall yet.

Have a wonderful day full of happiness and good health.  Nancy

Good morning friends!  It was 48F when we left home for a neighborhood walk at 6:20.  We returned a little after 7 am and it was still dark.  As we approached our house we saw two deer crossing our street and disappearing into the back yard and down the slope to the golf course.  You could tell the second one was a fawn by its exuberance in just crossing a street.  Where do the youngest of all species get their energy?

Thank you Rich @richwmnfor posting the Daily and Fleet Report especially while on a cruise.  Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all of you.  A salute to Indigenous people, Columbus, and metrics.  I'm not great at metrics but I get by.  The menu suggestion of Tahdig looks unusual.  Thanks to Tina @0106for doing that research for us.  Sharon @Sharon in AZthank you for the nice photos taken while leaving port yesterday.  Good luck Graham @grapau27at your doctor visit.  Yes, we can pretty much agree that arthritis is rampant among us.  Jacqui @kazunice to hear everyone had a good time at the holiday dinner yesterday.  I hope the car can be driven to the dealer for repairs tomorrow.  Is the noise on the same side?  If the opposite perhaps they should have replaced the ball joints there as well last time.  I know it's inconvenient for you to be without a car so fingers crossed they will get right on it.

Thanks Roy @rafinmdfor updating the lists for today and mentioning our newest angel Elliott Rose.😇 Prayers said for all on the Care list, my neighbor Linda, various friends and family in need, and to the people of Ukraine who are the target of shelling in their neighborhoods and playgrounds.  God bless them all. 🙏 Hoping power is back soon for all in SW Florida and the work is progressing there to clear spaces to rebuild.  Cheers to everyone cruising or getting ready to, as well as any other celebrations.🥂

Here is a link to Rich's post on Sept. 30, 2021 when we last had Hilo, Hawaii as port of the day.  I was busy having neighbor Brenda over for coffee (and peach tea) that day so I really didn't post much that morning.  Everyone else had nice photos of their time spent in Hilo though.  I might have some photos of the walk to the market we made there once.  We've been to Volcanoes National Park like most everyone else.  Great pictures Lenda of Hilo.

Hope you all have a great Monday.  Will post a final photo of my mailbox rejuvenation later when we bolt it back on the post.

Good morning Daily-ites. Hoping all of our sailing friends are having a lovely time. Brrr Sharon on your weather this morning!

I need to call HAL this morning. I purchased the HIA pkg but the internet is not showing up. I used giftcards to pay for it but that shouldn't make a difference.

Sandi the picture of Elliott Rose is so sweet. I'm sending prayers and blessings to her and family.

Jacqui I hope all goes well with your SUV tomorrow. It seems like car repair always comes with a big $$ sign.

Graham I hope your doctor's appointment goes well. Creaky achy joints are no fun.

Wishing everyone a happy week. Prayers, cheers and blessings. Xx

Thank you Joy.

My late mam had 3 knee replacement operations and her sister and my brother have had  hip replacement operations so it runs in the family unfortunately.

I don't want to go down that route and general anaesthesia after having had a heart attack previously.

My x-rays are in a couple of weeks and then we will take it from there.

Good morning everyone.  Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists.  Happy Thanksgiving to our northern neighbors.  Cheers to Indigenous Peoples and to Christopher Columbus.  I took a metrics class in college under the assurance that the US would be converting to the metric system soon, we all know how that ended as it was forty years ago!  The quote is pretty funny.  The meal and drink suggestions sound tasty.  Thanks for all of the photos of today’s port, it looks beautiful.  Prayers for everyone on our prayer list.  Happy _________ to those of you celebrating!

A very Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Northern friends!

We are happy to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day here and have managed to utilize the metric system as well. The recipes look so good and to this half Irish gal the addition of potatoes on the bottom is genius.

It is only going to be 65 or so today. The sun is out so we will also celebrate that. My tasks today include a doctors appointment for DH and then some cooking later for the family.

Tana had a rough night and we didn’t get much sleep. It always looks better in the morning, right? Her aide is due today but had some car trouble.

I am unable to leave her alone now so  DD  will bring her computer to our side of the house if the aide does not arrive soon. We are so fortunate to be able to pinch hit for each other and  that both DD and DSIL are still working from home most days.

We went to the Volcano’s National Park when we went to Hilo and we’re just amazed. I am sure it changes all the time with continued eruptions.
Lou and Terry  with our bus stickers!

Sorry I posted this on Sunday’s Daily. Wish we could delete the old copies as it does get confusing at times.

Anyway’s here’s a live link showing the Nieuw Statendam in Saguenay, Quebec. Here’s hoping our Dailylites onboard have a great day. Saguenay has a great welcoming for cruisers!

Thanks for the Fleet Update, general information, Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Day, Happy Columbus Day, and

National Metric Day; are you kidding! That made it in the US. Years ago I was told in elementary, middle, and high school plus agricultural college that we would be all under the metric system in a few years. Never thought I could sell milk by the liter and not by quart. I did buy a new abacus based on metric 🤓

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  Happy Thanksgiving Day to all Canadians around the world; I'm sure there are turkeys being cooked in many places where you normally wouldn't see them.   Happy Columbus Day to our American friends!

I am happy to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day, especially with my heritage.  Although we've had the  metric system for a number of years, there are still certain things I still have trouble with - length being one; I've never mastered the centimeters, millimeters thing.   Because I sew, I know a meter is 39 inches, so I do many calculations in my head.

There's not a lot on our agenda today, just tidying up the house and getting it ready for our lovely friends (who are nearly 90) who will be coming to the city for medicals on Wednesday.  They live about 4 hours from here and take turns driving, so we're hoping they'll stay an extra day or two so we can get them rested between journeys.   They like having sweet snacks, so I'll likely make some muffins to have with breakfast, and brownies or cupcakes for afternoon tea or bedtime treats.

Because we had our big meal yesterday, and even though I cooked a small turkey (5-7kg), we have lots of leftovers - yay!!!  It will be turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables and Greek salad on the deck tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is hurting, especially the innocent people in Ukraine who are the victims of a senseless bombing, and cheers to all who are celebrating.  Stay safe, everyone!

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Happy thanksgiving!  Best wishes to all!

We will walk in a few minutes, missed going to tai chi since I slept late- had a weird dream of evacuating and then realizing I left lots of things (eg money, credit cards) behind.  I have been looking at too much TV news.

Fall is the air this morning. 35F when we walked.... I had to wrestle little Monty into his sweater. He looked very spiffy.... but he was glad to come in. Need to get him a fleece coat.

Little here today. I have not been to Hilo and neither food nor drink seemed to appeal. I am concentrating on getting organized to leave for the east on Saturday. I fly out early in the morning and I hate the drive to airport in the dark....deer, bears, etc. Anticipating a slow and careful drive. Something to not look forward to. Would much rather be cruising.

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

I'll salute Columbus/Indigenous People's Day, National Metric Day, and World Mental Health Day.

Funny quote. I'll pass on the meal and drink, yes to the wine.

I have been to Hilo, once pre-digital and in 2012 when my camera malfunctioned.

Another cold start to the day (38F), but sunny. The roofers arrived bright and early at 8AM.

@grapau27 Good luck with the doctor's visit today.

@kazu Good to hear you had a nice dinner yesterday. I hope the SUV gets fixed tomorrow. I just had my car inspected, and mentioned I'd had the drive axle boot replaced elsewhere, after hearing a clunking noise, as I was afraid to drive it the 30 miles to the dealership.

@ottahand7 I watched that Ravens game too. They are arch rivals to us, but our Steelers are awful so far this year.

@smitty34877 Sorry to hear that Tana had a rough night. I hope today is somewhat better. It's good that DD and DSIL can help out.

@StLouisCruisers The mailbox looks very spiffy! Good job!

Prayers for the Care List, especially the bombing victims in Ukraine. Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

Good Morning from the Noordam

Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian friends!

Embarkation in San Diego was not too bad. There was a separate line for VeriFLY. We walked by lines of people checking in, so very worthwhile. So we were on the ship in a very short time.
Only bad thing I lost my sunglasses somewhere.  Going to check at guest services today . Maybe someone turned them in.  We were very late leaving- 10pm because of loading supplies.
The crew is as always wonderful. There have been some upgrades in the handicap cabins. We are in a signature suite and a button opens the doors, the bathroom is great and the water doesn’t run all over. Going to put some pictures on Halifacs. The best thing is a Lift on the pool. I was so excited! DD and so me have never been in a cruise ship pool.
We had our Meet and greet yesterday- 150 members attended. Very fun!

We have to wear masks for 7 days and we all are going to be retested on day 5.

Stay safe and enjoy today

Good morning from a VERY RAINY BARBADOS.  This is an all day rain.  There is no question about it.  One is beginning to hear unhappy grumblings at breakfast.

Anyway, it could be worse.  i could be looking at the mess back in my house.

So today’s agenda is to watch as many episodes of Call the Midwife, Season 11 on my IPad.  i downloaded them from Netflix before I left home. I did have them recorded while we were on our cruise in the Spring.  However, with our house in the condition that it is in, we are unable to watch TV there.  So I am reduced to watching Netflix on my Ipad.  Better than nothing.

Just finished “Where the Crawdads Sing” and enjoyed the book very much.  I see that it will be available on Netflix on Nov, 12.  Hope we will be able to watch it then.

Thank you Rich @richwmn for the Daily and Fleet Report.  Nice of you to do this even though you are cruising.  Real dedication.

Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian Friends.  Hope you get to enjoy a happy day with family and friends.

Happy Columbus Day and Indigenous People Day.   No mail today.  Not that it matters much to us right now, since our mail is being held while we are away.

i think we will pass on the meal.  The wine sounds nice and you can always tempt me with a margarita.

I am not sure what to make of the quote since I have not read any of the Harry Potter books.

I have not been to Hawaii.

Thank you Roy @rafinmdfor the lists.  Prayers for everyone on the cares list.

Special prayers for those who have suffered through Hurricane Ian and also the people of Nicaragua through Hurricane Julia.  Prayers for the people of Ukraine.

Cheers for those celebrating and cruising, especially those who Dailyites, cruising on the the New Statendam.  Nice to see a photo of the group.   Hope you are all having a wonderful time.

@StLouisCruisersSandi, thank you for the lovely photo of Miss Elliott Rose.  She is a beauty!  Congratulations to you and to her parents.

@grapau27Graham, good luck at your doctor visit today.  We are all getting to the age where arthritis is a problem. How to handle it is not always easy.

@kazuJacqui, good luck with your SUV repair.  Hope it is not a big problem.

@smitty34877Terry,  i am sorry to hear that Tana had a bad night.  Hope things improve.  Thank you for posting a photo.  Always nice to put a face to a name.

Well, folks, not much else to say today.  I will go back to rainy day activities.

Hope everyone has a great day.

God Bless,

Terri

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving. Tonight’s menu hasn’t been posted yet but I’m hoping Turkey is offered.

This is Montmorency Falls from our sail away yesterday. I saw it just in time to get a picture.

Have a great day everyone!

Looks like you hit peak foliage! Beautiful.

Thank you Terri.

My hip issues will be looked at after my x-rays in a couple of weeks.

My doctor is arranging an appointment at the hospital to get my feet checked out with specially fitted insoles suggested.
