Leadville has some strange ghost stories and love triangle history. My mom & I always find history fascinating:

my first vlog:

I love that in mid-June, the mountains are still snow-capped. I could look at that scenery all day long.

Waiting for part 2....can't wait to see what the mine shaft that the old man who went to work drunk looks like.

I absolutely adored Bobby Rydell and Frankie Avalon! 🤣

Frankie was my all time favorite.  To this day when I hear "Venus" I close my eyes and I'm transported back to a simpler time. 😔

I went to a couple singles weeks in the Catskills one at Concord other at Grossingers  in the late 70’s , saw a great show by Johnny Mathis who was great , have seen him several times recently including front row seats in a casino in Oklahoma.

I think I've been to every hotel in the Catskills. I was already married during your single forays at those two hotels.  Mine were 10 years before yours. Back in the day, those two hotels were the biggest and best.

I met a dancer whose stories were the basis of the movie "Dirty Dancing".  Her name is shown at the end of the movie credits, Jackie Horner.  She actually was a dancer at Grossinger's until the mid 80s.  She was hired as Story Consultant and claimed  that what was shown in the movie really happened.  The dancer in the movie was based on her and the part of Baby was based on Eleanor Bergstein  who wrote the screenplay. Love that movie!

It's late and I've rambled enough,  Sweet dreams, all.

Just announced on TV a 4 week extension of potential full unlocking of England from covid19.

Sounds like a good plan given my experience at New Street.  You cannot unlock with a rising R number.   Our unlocking has meant that numbers have trickled up from zero, but they are manageable.  No one is in hospital with COViD and the numbers in self-isolation are much lower.

It must be a nightmare to keep on top of people in the UK though.  I got a call from contact tracing yesterday to ask why I had not done my Day 5 test.  I had always thought that when I arrived back last Monday my usual Friday test at work would do.  I forgot that since the flight got delayed by a day, Friday was no longer ‘Day 5’.  I have to go and get another test today.

Keeping on top of 30,000 is one thing, keeping on top of 60 million is another ball game.

Gutted for those summer weddings that had been postponed though.

They are lifting the 30 limit for weddings on June 21st as long as the venue can cope which is great news.

Weddings are the one thing that was given a partial dispensation.  There are no limit to numbers of guests now, but social distance measures are still in place so your numbers will depend on the size of your venue. No dancing inside is allowed apart from the first dance and no singing inside the church apart from the choir. I'm not sure if masks will be necessary or not

Luckily our sons wedding in August is at the biggest venue in the county and so even with social distance measures they can have 80 guests. But hopefully by then we will of fully opened up and the above restrictions will be finished with  🙏

They have already postponed once since last summer

Would you tell a bit of it?

You only want a bit of butter fish. If too much is consumed it comes with a risk…

"Butterfish or Escolar cannot metabolize the wax esters (Gempylotoxin) naturally found in its diet. ... The gastrointestinal symptoms, called "keriorrhea", caused by these wax esters may include oily orange diarrhea, discharge, or leakage from the rectum that may smell of mineral oil.

a little further reading about it…

These esters are called gempylotoxin, and this is what gives the flesh of escolar its oily texture. The downside is that these esters are are very similar to castor or mineral oil, and when full portions of escolar are consumed, they can cause gastrointestinal symptoms.

One can imagine the fun had on CC with this being served at the Windjammer.

@dani negreanu

First of all thank you for starting the thread.

Now, what a beautiful family you have.

I loved the picture of you and your family.

It is really nice putting a face to a fellow thread poster.

I, have to admit, when I read posts and then someone takes the time to share their picture it really makes the sharing of information more complete.

My mind seems to make up a picture of what I think you would look like.

I wonder if anyone else does this.

Now if we ever cruise together I will know who to look for.

That is why I have a picture in my profile upper corner so people would recognize me.

OOOOOpppppppssssss, wrong picture for a lionesss.

I'll have to post one so people can then put a face to the poster.  (😁)

Take care.

I'm sure there are people in here who will ask "who was Bobby Rydell?"

Hell yes I remember Bobby Rydell - listen to him on Sirius / XM radio. Unfortunately eons ago my 45 collection was discarded along with my 33's. Got married - left the collection at Mom & Dad's and they disappeared!!!!

Not only great pictures of you and your family but also some good looking food on that grill.  What's cooking?

Thanks.

I’ve softened potatoes in the microwave for 20 mins (no oven here — one eye electric plate, one big fridge, kettle, and outside grill. Due to COVID we had to “schlepp” cutlery, pots, pans, etc.).

Then we halved them and grilled. Meat — pork cutlets and chicken calves for the grandkids.

Very nice setup for 3 generations traveling together. They gave us 3 rooms, and only our single son was relegated to a cheaper part, but then he was on the second floor, with a balcony overlooking the Sea of Galilee.

The biggest problem is the hot hot weather. The Sea is below sea level. You cannot do without AC, and we’re not used to sleep while the AC is on and making a noise like a big tractor.

Otherwise, very nicely spacious well laid out resort.

I still have hundreds of 33’s and maybe a hundred 45’s , when we do our rock and romance cruises we get some signed by the original artist .
