It's the strangest thing.  A local shop looked and said the battery is fine, no idea what's going on. It was dead again this morning.

A few years ago....we replaced several batteries in one of our cars...plus the alternator....and couldn't resolve the problem..

My cousin called and said his friend had the same problem....and it was the radio.  It had just enough pull when the car was off...to drain the battery..

We replaced the radio....and never had another problem....

Two things:  First, I just found that we in the U.S. can now order an additional eight free home covid tests at www.CovidTests.gov.  Just placed my order.  Second, I am pretty old, but didn't get the connection between buffalos and roller skating posted  by @XBGuy.  Any clues?

We have been to Kotor three times, and liked the town and the old city.  The area long the bay is also beautiful.  I looked through my pictures and tried to find some that have not been posted today, but please indulge me if there are some repeats.

Our first visit to  Kotor was on October 1, 2016, when the Prinsendam was in Dubrovnik.  Since that was about our umpteenth visit to Dubrovnik, we decided to hire a taxi to take us to Kotor.  We made sure that we and the taxi driver had our passports since you have to go through checkpoints for both countries driving each way.  We did not really have enough time in Kotor, because the driver said that there could be a backup getting back into Croatia.

The drive between the two towns along the bay and through the mountains is pretty too.  We had time to walk around the walled city that day, and we knew we had to return in the future.

These are some of the pictures from our first visit.

One of the many towns lining the bay.

This is the best picture I have of the artificial island and the church of Our Lady of the Rocks.

There was a market outside one of the gates that sold produce and flowers.  The women manning the booths got very upset with DH when he tried to take pictures of the market.  I got these on our way to meet the taxi when we were not in the market.

In 2019,  on b2b2b cruises on Veendam, we were in Kotor twice.  July 12, we took the open air Ho-Ho along the bay to Perast and Risan.  We only got off in Risan since that was a stop and the turn around point of the tour.  Our guide took us the Roman Baths to see the mosaics.

A couple of pictures leaving Kotor.

We were back in Kotor on August 8, and this time we were anchored a pretty good ways out of town.  The ship used local tenders for the passengers, and ship tenders for the crew who were leaving and boarding that day.

This picture was taken from the tender.

Love all the mentions of the Veendam.  It was our first HAL cruise and was our favorite ship, even when they did the weird renovation to the aft pool.

Good evening, I hope everyone had a great day. It’s a breezy and sunny day here but it’s going to be hot this weekend, 92 on Saturday, ugh!

Today is primary Election Day in Pa and the mud slinging has been nasty. My county went to a new electronic signature book and it had major problems, people were unable to sign in, in fact the court has ordered the polls to stay open till 9 pm.

Blessings and prayers to all on our lists ❤️🙏

I'll bet you're glad it's over.  I sure am as I will be driving through Pennsylvania Friday on the way to pick up my ship in Bayonne.

Thanks for that enjoyable Roger Miller song.  Think I have heard it, but didn't remember it.  I was trying to think of some of the oldest things I remember.  One was when our next door neighbor put up signs for Dewey for president and my father saying they can't be good people if they won't vote for Truman.  Guess things never change...

Two shirts, both by Columbia, that I bought for cruise travel in hot countries (so this is not totally irrelevant) came with odd and unexpected loops below one chest pocket. One has roll-up sleeves and the loop is like the ones used for the sleeves.

I was baffled, and the retailer's site doesn't mention them, so I looked on Columbia's site. Both shirts are classed as fishing shirts and the loop is to hold a rod. Is it OK to wear them when not fishing?

812629254_shirtwithrodloop.scaled.jpg.c5658460d1329e4c3b29154cba7727d1.jpg

That's a pretty small loop to hold a fishing rod; can you imagine what would happen if you suddenly got a fish on the line?  My best guess is it's to hold your sunglasses.

Of course it's okay to wear them when not fishing; there aren't any fashion police around, I'm sure.

I hope you have an awesome cruise on Allure.

I think this thread is the best and safest thread to be on and you will always be welcomed.

I post on Dani's Lockdown thread on Royal Caribbean so hopefully I will hear from you on there.

Take care and very best wishes.

Graham x.

oh it is not the daily but rather another thread that got a bit too lecturing for me and a comment I made was scolded for it.

Love the daily but overall not happy with the scolding I got for telling someone to stop lecturing and well other stuff.

I will read but not comment on HAL after this.  see me over on RCI

LOve, love love the photo's of Kotor, especially the photos of the cats. I believe I saw the photo of the 7 cats (or at least a photo just like it) on facebook some time ago.

Thanks for the Roger Miller video. He was and still is one of my all time favorite performers.

All of my cruises except two have been aboard HAL. One was NCL American 7 day circle Hawaii. Gorgeous itinerary, terrible food and terrible American crew. The other was RCCI Allure of the Seasm maiden voyage from the United States. Extremely crowded and, extremely loud with the exception of Central Park which my husband and I loved however DBIL and DSIL didn't care for Central Park.  Good thing we are all different.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

Interesting days. I try not to be a pack rat, and am getting rid of (donating) things I just don't use; no heirs to pass stuff on to. Care of hypertension is important, and we should all keep an eye on our blood pressure. Dinosaurs are cool; the Carnegie Museum here has an excellent dinosaur bone collection.

Typical W.C. Fields quote.

I like the meal, but it's more carbs than I need. Pass on the drink, but I'll take the wine.

I haven't been to Montenegro. Thanks for the pictures.

It's a beautiful sunny day here, with temperature in the upper 60's and low humidity. I was cold when I woke up this morning! I made a trip this AM to get some garden supplies, and stopped at the big box store. I'd like a lighter garden hose, but see such bad reviews on those light-weight expandable ones. I'll plant my tomatoes a bit later. Rain from tomorrow evening through the weekend, with high temps, so I may have to mow the lawn tomorrow.

@Cruzin Terri Sorry you had to have a root canal, but the only one I ever had instantly relieved the pain I was having and wasn't bad.

@JAM37 Sorry to hear about the migraine yesterday with lingering effects today. Take it easy.

@kazu It sounds like you have very nice neighbors.

@StLouisCruisers Great photos of Kotor.

@smitty34877 Good news about DB's test.

@Sea Viewer Have a great time!

@Cruising-along Kayaks sound like fun gifts for the DGS's. Great photos.

@bennybear Thanks for the Kotor photos.

@aliaschief Cool to see the Monk Seals.

@Vict0riann Nice pictures. Good news about DSIL and her DH.

@msmayor I'm so glad to hear that DD is enjoying motherhood now. Nice plants!

Prayers for the Care List and Ukraine, as well as all victims of the senseless shootings here in the US.

Cheers to the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

Vanessa, I bought one of these garden hoses about three years ago and I really like it.  Like you, I wanted something lighter.  I've tried a couple of brands of the coil ones and they have kinked a lot and sprung leaks.  Plus, being so narrow, it takes a lot longer to get enough water on the plants.

Isn't it funny how such a simple thing can be complicated?  Anyhow, FWIW, I've liked this one.  There may be other colors and lengths available out there.

...Last night I ordered our next round of home tests.  Just a caution for those who have them -- they do expire before long.  Ours expire in a couple months. I don't know if the next ones will expire so soon also.   Also, when I did a self-test last week, one of the "pre-filled tubes" was empty!  That was a surprise!...

My USA iHealth brand government issue covid test have an expiration date of July 2022 printed on them but about a week or so ago I got and email from them that the expiration dates have been extended by 3 months with studies going on to possibly extend another 3 months after that.  Good to know because I thankfully haven't had the need to use them yet.

Thank you everyone, good ideas 🙂  DH checked that no lights had been left on (and his car doesn't seem to have a light in the glove box).  He is wondering if his iPod could be the culprit, so unplugged that tonight. Will see if the battery is dead in the morning like today. I'm glad he has an appointment to find out what's going on.

The good news is that we got to DD's with kayaks safely in tow, and the grandsons are happy to get them.

Hello everyone,

I survived the Root Canal.  However it was not ouchless and I still have pain.  Doc says I will have pain for several days.

Tooth has a fracture under nether crown.  Trying to save it.

I have had other root canals but this one was the worst of them all.  And the most expensive.

I have been to Kotor twice.  Both times I enjoyed the port very much.  Went on a tour with a guy by the name of Milo Popovich.  He has a website.  He gave us a very good tour with lunch.  Very much enjoyed the stop at Our Lady of the Rocks.  Church built by sailors in the harbor.

Thank you all for all the good wishes for my Root Canal. Appreciate it.

It seems like the vacation was years ago at this point.

Hope everyone had a nice day.  I am exhausted.

Take care and God Bless.

  • Late post for today.  Spent 4 hours in a Red. CRoss meeting/exerciseWe had to drive 3 hours each way to attend.  Will try to post a scenery picture from today.   Beautiful San Juan mountain range between me and @durangoscots.

Just another quick note about the days for today.  I spent some of my growing up years a few miles from Dinosaur National Monument. Been there countless times and lots of walks through the Utah Museum of Natural History with all of its history of said prehistoric animals.
