Beautifully written.  Thanks for sharing.

+1  @DaniDanielle  Your grandson sounds like a sensitive, intelligent young man, and one who must make you so proud, Marietta and Charlie.❤️

Speaking of Charlie, how is he doing these days, especially since he fell in Atlantic City?

And a great step. I think you will be very happy. Change is always scary at first but I think with time you will realize it was a great decision.

I spent time in that area before a cruise and it would be exactly where I would pick if I would ever have the opportunity. It’s nice area and far enough away from the rat race but close enough to get to it when the will arises.  Not to mention close to the ocean and to the port.

I’m sure you will meet people in a short order and perhaps you can join a club for a hobby or take up something new where you meet other like minded folks.

On to the next journey in life and a great one to boot!

@firefly333 It looks wonderful!! I think you will love it.

Sometimes I wish I bought my dad's condo in Pompano Beach FL when he died. I am one of six children. We sold it. It was on the intracoastal, but his specific condo faced the ocean from a couple blocks away ... ocean visible and picturesque.  But now we have grandchildren and it is hard to consider being that far away.

Like you, we would seriously consider a condo (vs. another house).

Wishing you much happiness in your new place!

It will be the first time I'm doing this for myself, not for someone else in a long time. I used to live in boca Raton florida on the beach, but prices are so high now and the area so busy, I wanted a quieter place to live. I'm hoping for a farmers market like we had in s. Florida. Nothing close to me here in dallas. I do hope getting out and walking and being out and about I'll meet others. It just no longer makes sense to live here where I am now.

I liked pompano fl. I know it well from when I lived in boca I used to drive down A1A thru there and think that would be a fun lifestyle too. Hard to just pick one place to live!

WOW that is so touching, simply beautiful!  He is a very mature young man who has been through so much and still takes the thought to commend all of his support from loved ones. He must make you feel so proud.

Happy Easter to all who celebrate it.

We have had lovely weather for Good Friday in Sydney - a very pleasant 26C.

This morning, I did an 8km undulating urban walk and was delighted to find towards the end that  this cafe was open serving all day breakfast.

Afternoon and evening we spent at the beach first relaxing on the sand then later enjoying take away fish & chips for tea in the adjacent park with many others enjoying their family picnics on this lovely evening.  A young group near us had a guitar and were singing Sweet Caroline and other songs.

Meanwhile, DD sent me this photo taken on their drive to Calgary.5B701096-9AFD-4791-8F3C-2F295E1A5EA2.thumb.jpeg.097c331c139470741a32e1508fb1dad5.jpeg

Thank you. This is kinda crazy going out completely on my own. I got a cousin in Vienna fl but there isnt a port close enough. Lots of golfers move there. So 4 or 5 hours apart. And a few other friends in florida. Just no where I wanted to move. It's a huge step for me.

How is your eye Jane? Is it adjusting well to both far and to near vision/reading?

Right you're, Mark. @h20skibum  Just reading #6 on VirgiL series.

In my defense - I'm down with a nasty flu (vaccinated to boot) for more than a week. Got it from DH, who had a light "version", since he didn't bother to get vaccinated....

Not fair, not fair at all 😢

I hope you’re feeling better soon Dani!

@LuckynanaCharlie is doing much better.  Walking with the cane mostly.  Ortho appointment next week for MRI results. The first two weeks were tough.  He had to sleep downstairs and I had to wheel him around in the wheelchair.  Slowly he was able to do more.  Thanks for asking❤️

Give him my regards for continued progress. I can relate. Time is a good thing. I'm 4 months out from knee replacement. I am better now than I was last month and I'm sure I will be better next month. It does take time.

He says it's perfect.i said I see a bit double close up. He says that's because the eyes dont match. I'm hoping it goes away. It's not bad, and he proved to me I'm seeing better on the eye chart. I think my near vision probably was pretty good to start with, it was my far vision. Especially night driving and reading street signs. Reading I really dont notice much difference.

Today im starting the pre surgery drops on the other eye. I'll have over 2 weeks overlap with both eyes on different drop patterns. 3 days pre op and then 4 weeks post op directions.

For the foodies, we went back to the Culinary Institute for dinner this week.  Have done lunch before but first time for dinner.  Seven courses for $45 pp, we left stuffed, all wonderful food, lots of great chefs coming up the ranks.  Missed pictures of a few courses, too interested in eating, by the time I remembered it wasn't photo worthy.

The menu, also included was a lobster soup to start.  The only item you needed to pick was dessert, of course we got 1 of each.

Deb, the 1st 4 days were super painful but luckily that's in the past.  I feel so much better, Doc advised to take it easy for at least another 2 weeks to allow everything to heal internally. Thanks for asking.

Not the same because Charlie not being able to walk up and down will not be long lasting but when I had this problem I bought a stairlift in 2017.Most companies give discounts to Veterans and there is a company owned by  Veterans.

@Husky1987   Haven't seen any recent posts.   I hope everyone is doing good and everything is progressing nicely with your home renovations from the fire.

Thank you for thinking of me!  I haven't been here around much, work is busy and my wife got a new job with hours a bit later each evening so I've been playing more house husband as well 😊

House is coming along!  They are finishing up with insulation this week.  Then (yet another!!) inspection for that, then they'll start putting up drywall.  That should take a few days then the real work begins...taping and mudding the drywall will take a week plus.  From there the end is near with the finish work...paint, carpet, floors, trim, etc.  We'll be picking out cabinets soon.  Target date for move-in is mid-May, but not holding my breath.  Could go later with delays, or could even be a bit sooner if everything goes perfectly.
