Just about to watch some program on 4+1 that DW has been banging on about. First glass of Chianti coming up. Seedy Ladies just brought back memories🤣

I just got home from our first ladies night out since last August.  We went to a restaurant that we hadn't  tried before but it has good reviews which are well deserved.  It was great to get out together even though we  have been bowling together for the last few weeks.

Just the same, or possibly oven cooked if the oven is on for something else (McCains Gourmet Chips - v good, v moorish, not a thing to have too often!). Or damp the fish with milk & pass it through seasoned flour to make *meuniere* (might or might not be the right spelling) Fry it in a little butter - delicious.  Veg oil will do perfectly well but the butter is lovely

I’ve taken to using foil packets in the oven quite a lot.  Makes life easy wrt timing/last minute preparation and if I’m indulging in halibut or turbot I don’t have to panic about overcooking & ruining.  Just a tiny dab of oil on the bottom of the foil, pull it up to make a packet, add seasoning, a tiny part of a slice of lemon, tiny piece of butter and a teaspoon of white wine.  Fold the packet to seal it and cook in the oven for 18-20 minutes.

Here’s a great recipe for skate, which doesn’t follow any of the above but is really, really nice (and easy)

https://www.houseandgarden.co.uk/recipe/roasted-skate

Thanks for that.I love skate but my OH doesn't.We put our homemade chips in the oven drizzled with olive oil and rosemary,They turn out crispy on the outside. most of the time.Brian.

Good morning everyone I'm hoping everyone is feeling fine today.

Same as others have said , it's a shame to read some of our posters are now feeling

they have no place within this forum ,simply because they have never been on a P&O

cruise ship and they don't feel part of the club , which there isn't . All there is is a load

of wonderful supportive people who have helped supported and advised each other

through one of the worst years in living memory . Our moderator has said " keep all our

general posts" such as this on this page   which leaves the rest of this forum to sort out

folks who do have P&O things to talk about . Please do not feel like an outsider just

because you may not sail on a P&O ship in the near future especially if you enjoy posting

on here as I'm sure your posts would be missed .They are a great bunch on here and should

you decide not to post ,one things for sure they will still welcome you back when you do.:classic_love:

Right that's my thought's and lets get back to the things that matter like the price of spam

in Benidorm or whatever, but all of you have a good day and stay safe .:classic_love::classic_smile:

Morning everyone, hope you are all safe and well today. Love your morning updates Kalos, a great way to start the day, you keep us all going!

Looks a lovely morning here, taking my mum shopping this morning, she likes to go to M & S food hall. Dog going to groomers this afternoon, it costs more for her hair cut than mine(by a whopping 50% more) every six weeks, maybe I should be a dog groomer to be able to afford more cruises....

Have a good day everyone

Since reading your post I reread the Where to Post message a few times, and unless I'm reading it differently, I can't see where it states you can't post on here. Maybe Sharon could clarify it for you as we like seeing your posts and you have become 'one of us' so to speak.

Avril

As cruising is beginning to resume - Yay - the intention is to try and steer this P&O specific forum back to P&O related posts.  I did not intend to upset anyone, but just to remind you all that there is a dedicated section of Cruise Critic for UK cruisers to discuss anything cruise related - UK Cruisers - Cruise Critic Community and another to discuss anything you like (except politics!) - The Pub - Cruise Critic Community.  Many people don't find them. Comparing different lines with P&O is fine - as it is relevant. Hope that is clear.

I read this to mean the days of this thread are numbered.

Good morning.    Lovely sunny start and hope that summer has returned.

Say safe.

Me too

I suppose it would be simple enough to shift across to The Pub ... I just never seem to remember to make the extra click to get there (and it’s full of “strangers”, and I like the customers here ...)

We’ll see.  As I don’t have much in the way of cruise plans at the mo perhaps I should prepare to lose out on this bit of socialising as other, real life, interactions ramp up (and the sun shines!)?

Well said Kalos.

Some of us have been fortunate to sail on several cruiselines and can contribute on various threads with knowledge of their ships.

This thread  has helped us all during this pandemic.

I think Sharon just meant for us to stick to the thread topic when cruising restarts and not thread drift like we do on this thread.

I don't think anyone is restricted because they haven't cruised on P&O before because anyone thinking of booking P&O for the first time will want to ask questions about facilities, cabins, bars shows etc.

Morning all, just waiting to see if we're going to sail from the Port of Tyne on Marella Explorer 2 for a 'taster' sailing. Ideal for us, just a Saturday and Sunday night away (although we will travel to Newcastle on Friday evening). Several mandatory training sessions and zoom calls to attend today

I think it  will just be moved - probably to the Floataway Lounge, but not just yet.

Thanks for the clarification.

Anyway, if it gets moved from the P&O board, it will not be the same and regulars will drift away. Inevitable that it would happen some day,  just give us some notice please.

I agree with you sentiments. I would be sorry to see this thread go/move as I have got to know you all on here and have had many encouraging, supporting and kind words from everyone.

Was wall to wall sunshine when I got up but seems to have clouded over a bit now, but pleasant.

Enjoy your day whatever you planned.

I have posted on 2 Floataway lounge threads on a daily basis for 2 years now and there is a core of regular posters like on here where we talk about similar topics as we do on here so that would be a great future home for this wonderful friendly thread.

For anyone who has never been on a Floataway lounge thread it is sometimes not easy to access like the main boards are and post count is not included in your cc post count.

Graham.

So do I, but I hope not. I and many others have found this popular thread, as the number of posts prove, a lifeline over the last 14 months or so, and even though cruising is begining to return I think it will still be needed. We have come to know each other in a different way. As Sharon says there are other places to post however, this thread has become our own little 'family' group and many still find it helpful and very easy to just pop into while reading other  P&O threads.

I would be sad to see this thread moved away from the P&O forum. It has been a great spirit lifter over the last 15 months, and you feel like you know people in a smaller group and I don't think it would be the same moved to a general UK forum.

Sue, how did you get on taking your little grandson on the bus yesterday?

Have a good day everyone

Absolutely agree it feels like a friendly family group on here and it won’t feel the same now posting on a different thread and has definitely been a lifeline to many including me.🤗

I was looking at the old days, 15 ,or so years ago. Some of the threads reached 50,or 60 replies, but most were single figure. I imagine we will all drift away. Sad really, very sad.

It would be great if this thread could be kept going in it’s current location as it always feels like chatting to old friends.
When you return back to the ship many of the P&O Captains will say “welcome home” and that is just what this thread feels like.

But I do appreciate you may have no say in the option of where it remains Sharon and we have all appreciated you keeping it going and occasionally having to keep us all in line!

Just an occasional poster these days, for a variety of reasons, but this thread has proved invaluable to so many people, on such a wide variety of topics, some of them actually deeply impacting on lives, that it would be tragic to see it moved or changed just so that it ‘fits’ some sort of pre-determined ‘pattern’.

Is it really doing any harm the way it is?  If so, what?

People have had medical support, emotional support, vaccine information, travel information, holiday information, food and recipe ideas, comedy, entertainment, fashion tips (!), and endless other help.

Why change a winning formula?
