I see on our boarding pass we are leaving on November 19 from terminal four. I have no clue where terminal four is.

If you are departing from Port Everglades, Terminal 4 is next to the Convention Center on the north side of the port. Usually Princess departs from this area. You can see port map of Port Everglades on their website.

Good afternoon. Late today as  1) I slept in and 2) I had to mad dash to the shelter for a meeting which went well for a change. It was cold and frosty this morning but yesterday's light snow is already gone. We only got 1 and 1/2 inches . We may have another storm next week. The High Country did much better than we did with the snowfall and Wolf Creek ski area opened today with 28 inches. Not too shabby for this early in the season and the snow can stay up there as far as I am concerned.

Been to today's destination, but driving, not cruising. Just finished up the Chinese take-away that I got a few days ago.

Hope everyone that is boarding cruises today made it easily and with no complications. I hope that medical issues stabilize, or even better, improve for all affected. The guardian angels need to stop partying and get back on the job.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. Don't forget the time change for most of us!

I like football, even though both the NFL team and college team are doing poorly this year. Mmmm, Chinese; I need to have some, although I rarely do takeout. No red hair here. Typical Wilde quote.

The meal sounds good. Pass on the drink and wine.

I haven't been to Invergordon.

The day got away from me. I've been doing more decluttering, and ebay stuff. It's 78F out! I was going to do leaves, but it's very windy. Maybe tomorrow or early next week. I have my Nuclear Medicine gallbladder function test early Monday morning.

@rafinmd I'm glad you made it to Sanford; travel safely on your way to FLL.

@grapau27 What is bonfire day about?

@StLouisCruisers Thanks for the Inverness photos.

@smitty34877 I hope you get some relief from your hip pain. I hope Tana is at least stable for now. And it sounds like DH is doing well. Your neighbor is indeed a blessing to the family.

@dfish Good to hear you made it safely to Midland.

@kazu I hope boarding went smoothly. Let them pamper you on board!

@*Miss G* Enjoy the wedding. A local hospital has elevators like that; I was confused the first time I tried to use them, but they're nice.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Nice pictures.

@seagarsmoker@Crazy For Cats@GTVCRUISER @Heartgrove @jimgev @0106 Bon Voyage!

@Ichiban Nekko Congrats on the move and I hope most things get done before your cruise.

@MISTER 67 I'm glad you went to the ER. Hand/finger infections can be quite a handful (no pun intended) if not treated properly.

@Cruzin Terri I like your plans for the master bath.

@HAL4NOW I was happy to read your good report about the fire. Sorry you lost power, but good thing about having a generator.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

Happy Saturday everyone. I have been so busy I forgot what day of the week it was until my son reminded me that it was Saturday. Yesterday went as well as can be with the eye doctor and Costco remaking my glasses. But the lady at Costco reminded me that they will have to sell ten more pair of glasses to pay for remaking mine. I am not sure what she wanted me to do. It wasn't my mistake. I got three batteries worth of weed eating done before the storm set in and it has been pouring since. My guest room bed is covered with things for suitcases. It's fun to have room to spread things out and plan. In my cabin in Oregon, there wasn't room to do this kind of organizing,  so it's fun to take my time.

Thanks everyone for their contributions to our Daily, and prayers for all.

Good afternoon from a cool and breezy central Texas.  At least the sun is out.

Today and tomorrow are days that DH does not have PT.  We visited a while, and then he was ready for a nap.  I had some things I wanted to look at, so I let him nap and went shopping.  I did find one thing I wanted, and it was a Black Friday deal today only.  That is usually not the story of my shopping.

Good morning! Yesterday I dropped off my mail in ballot and did some last minute shopping for my cruise. DD decided we would go the craft fair this morning instead of yesterday afternoon. So after work yesterday I made a big dent in my packing.

Friends are arriving at the cruise hotel today. I’ll be driving in tomorrow. I didn’t get a WiFi package so I’ll just have to catch up with reading while in port. Know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers especially those on the Care List.

Remember to fall back tonight (if your area does that).

Safe travels tomorrow and have a great cruise.  BON VOYAGE!

I thought of you Lenda when our neighbor John arrived yesterday and very smoothly lifted Tana and the WC down the many steps. She does not weigh much but the WC is heavy and there is the oxygen to worry about. I told him of how the EMT’s in Texas helped your DH and he was as amazed as I was by their response.  He told DSIL to text him when they got back home so that the process could be repeated. The only payment he will accept is my lasagna! We are blessed.

Terry, I would never have thought to call the EMTs to help get DH in and out of the car, if our neighbor hadn't been doing that for help with her husband.  We live in the country and our town is about 2000 people.  There are not a lot of options.  I knew with the EMTs, they could move DH without hurting him or causing problems with his back.  Besides, some of our county taxes help pay for their service.

Good morning everyone.  We arrived yesterday at the ES in Deerfield Beach and it's a beautiful morning here. Leave tomorrow on the NA and hoping we have great weather all week.   😀   Take care and hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Hope you have a great cruise on the NA.  BON VOYAGE!

Good Morning Dailyites!

Finally, we feel as though we are emerging into the light. This moving stuff is not for cissies! I don't know how @dfish Debbie and others did it over longer distances so efficiently. I am totally in awe of that kind of organization (and I like to think of myself as pretty darn organized).

So most of the 'stuff' has been unpacked and relocated. Ish. Books and their shelving are a separate line item altogether. We have contractors galore lined up to work on the garage, window coverings, basement, etc. Hopefully most things will be completed before we before we board the NS in three weeks! Yesterday, I went through our file for the cruise(s), doublechecking for things to be done, but I think the only thing left to do is the medical check about 3 days before boarding. HAL's website is now a BFF with our credit card, LOL!

In order to get to this place, I had to ignore CC for a few weeks -- usually, the Daily/Fleet Report is a must-read. Thanks to everyone of you who contribute so frequently and share your knowledge all over CC, but especially this thread. I also read about the CC gang getting to Barcelona (wow!) that should be boarding the Oosterdam today -- probably right now.

Today, the Montpelier Horse Races are the big activity in our area of Virginia - just down the road at James Madison's Montpelier. It is very popular, but we don't have tickets. However, the siren call of the ever-present To Do list will ensure we are entertained, LOL!

Heartfelt thoughts to those going through challenges. And hearty Attaboys to those on @rafinmd Roy's Celebrations list. Best wishes to all,

-Cat

I'm glad you have the move behind you.  We've packed ourselves for our last two moves, but I'm not sure about what I'd do now.  Our last move was 23 years ago.  Enjoy your new house.

Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida.

Not sure about the quote, just because a famous person said something doesn't make it gospel.

Good days especially since DW had red hair in 1969 when I met her and married 6 months later.

We love Chinese food and have a great Asian Fusion restaurant in Port Charlotte which we visit once a month.

American Football is not my favorite sport, I'd rather watch Baseball, Hockey, Golf and English Premier League Soccer which should make Graham happy. If there is nothing else to watch, I bite the bullet and will watch an NFL or College game.

Astros can clinch the World Series tonight.

The fingertip wasn't getting better so we went to the emergency room at 8AM this morning, they drained the abscess but I need to stay on the antibiotic and see a hand specialist on Tuesday, some minor surgery might be needed, initial diagnosis is I have Paronychia, I probably won't be playing Golf for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for The Daily, stay well and have a great day.

I'm glad the ER could drain the abscess.  I hope the antibiotic and the hand doctor can help.  Sorry you will have to miss playing golf for a couple of weeks.

Good afternoon everyone.

Thank you to Rich for the Daily and Fleet Report.

i am really batting zero with the days and almost everything else.

i am not a football fan, not fond of Asian food, and don’t have red hair.

i do like the quote,

I will skip the meal and the wine as well as the drink.

i have never been to the port.

Thank you Roy for the Cares and celebration lists. i wish you a very enjoyable cruise.  It looks like you are already having a good time on the Auto Train.  A fun way to travel.

DH and I spent this morning looking over various designs for a new configuration of our master bathroom.  Since the whole place is gutted, we can really do whatever we want.  We have decided to forget about the garden tub and put in a big shower in its place.  Then where the old shower was, we plan to put in a second linen closet.  I never understood why this house only had one small linen closet.  It is so stuffed and I have resorted to using dresser drawers in the spare bedroom for some linens because I don’t have enough room.

Just as we were finishing up with discussing the design based on a neighbor’s bathroom, DH decided to spill his coffee all over the table.  This caused a big cleanup.  Just what I need—extra work!

All done now.

So today’s agenda is to tackle the email problem.  Get as many emails converted from hargray to Outlook.com.  I hope I make a good dent in this.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour.

God Bless,

Terri

Terri, it must be nice to finally be able to work on plans for your house.  It sounds like the bathroom will be a huge improvement.

The UW Huskies were able to pull off winning a game from behind last night during our atmospheric river event. No local football interests until Sunday's Seahawk game.

My mother was a redhead, and I was a redhead along with five of my other siblings. The last three siblings were adopted, so only six of the nine of us were redheads.

We had some really strong winds last night and the power went off about 10 PM. I put off getting up out of our warm bed, hoping the power would come back on this morning, but finally gave up and started the generator about 9 AM. No estimate for when the power will be restored; it could be days. At least it warmed up a bit outside (currently 40 degrees F.) The rain has slowed some also, only about three inches the past 24 hours.

Hope your power is back on by now.  Glad the fire is finally history.

Good afternoon all.  Arrived at my nieces for a quiet afternoon, been watching a string of Mighty Cruise Ships.  She's pretty much a regular Carnival cruiser, pretty much by her teenage son's choice.

Hi, everyone.  We are all moved in and all of our furniture has been delivered.  The only snag is Spectrum has not been able to activate our internet like they said they would.  So, there will be no Meal of the Day tomorrow.  They said they’ll try to come out tomorrow to diagnose their problem.  I’m hoping to be able to return on Monday.

Yes, it's the only train of it's kind that I know of.  Something like 30 auto carriages and 19 passenger cars.  My niece is in Winter Garden, about 15 miles west of Orlando.

@rafinmd  Roy, thank you for your reply, What a good way to travel, did you drive your car onto the train or did the train staff do that?

Definitely, they drive it.  The car carriers are set up in strings of 4 rail cars with very little room to walk once cars are parked.  This post should give a reasonable idea of the process:

Friday, November 4, 2022, Leave home and board Auto Train

I left home a little after 8:30, possibly earlier than I should have but we had morning for so the extra time was probably a good idea.  I spent a lot more waiting and confused. partly due to my skewed memory and partly due to some Amtrak inconsistencies.  There was actually morning fog but traffic was no worse than a normal day.  I had mis-remembered the station location, thinking it was almost an hour south of the Washington Beltway but it was less than 10 miles, and despite a couple of stops I was at the station about 10.  My boarding pass indicated they started taking cars at 11:30 but when I got there nothing was moving, and they were not accepting cars until 12:30.  About noon a guy came around, and indicated I could check in at the desk in the terminal and I got a boarding pass and 5PM dinner reservation.

checkin.jpg

Also, unlike other trains, they pay no attention to tickets, you give them your name and that is all they use.   I returned to the car and the line moved pretty quickly once they started.  The first stop was a booth where the guy took my name and stuck a magnetic number on my door.  I moved forward about 100 yards where I was told to leave keys in the car, window down and took my carry-ons to a waiting luggage trolley and headed into the train hall.

checkin.jpg

I stopped in the train hall only briefly and went out to a courtyard to do some work on my laptop.

courtyard.jpg

The wifi worked ok out there but working on the laptop was almost impossible in the bright sun light so I went back into the train hall until about 3:15.

https://morethangetaways.files.wordpress.com/2022/11/trainhall.jpg

I went out to the platform to wait for boarding to start.  While waiting I watched a bit of the car loading process, as the cars were driven on to car carriers via ramps to the upper and lower levels.

https://morethangetaways.files.wordpress.com/2022/11/loadingl.jpg

A couple of motorcycles were loaded, placed on a small trailer pulled by a garden tractor.

cycle.jpg

My car boarded about 3:40.  I am in roomette 4 on the upper level of the car.  It consists of 2 seats facing each other and a table can fold down between them.  It is small, about 1 meter wide and 2 meters long but it does the job.  At night the seats drop together to form a bed and a second bunk drops down from above the window.  It is very basic but there are also more elaborate rooms.  There is a toilet about 10 feet away and 3 more on the lower level.

We started moving about 4:30 but only briefly as final assembly was completed and we started moving in earnest about 4:45.  The first call for dinner came almost precisely at 5.  As I was walking to the dining car the Conductor gave us a bit of information.  We have about 19 passenger cars (coaches, sleepers, dining, and lounges) and 30 car carriers.  I think today we have 248 vehicles on board, quite a full train.

The Dining car was 3 cars ahead of me, one car ahead of the lounge.  Meals are included for Dining Car passengers.  Unlike most Amtrak trains the Diner serves only Sleeper passengers, coach passengers cannot buy a meal.  They have a café which I think has only food that can be micro waved.  I was seated with a young couple and a very small (I think under 1 year) child.  It was quite a challenge for the mother to deal with food with just one hand, although near the end the father took the child, letting mom eat in peace.  The father went to OCS in Quantico, so our journey brought back memories.

My choices were chicken tikka, and Ice Cream for desert.  Dinner was about 40 minutes.

dinner04.jpg

Near the end of the meal the sun was setting on the other side of the car.

dusk04.jpg

I am finishing the post before the attendant puts down the bead and will probably head to bed about 10,

Roy

I am not cheering about the Astros.  Standing independently from my family I cheered for the Phillies, I am a Jersey girl after all.  But when you live in Jersey, you don't root for the Phillies.  LOL.

Last night was our last night with DH's family.  And it was an evening we all shared while under a tornado watch/warning/watch depending in what county each family member was in.  DH and I went downstairs to the guest room, watched Netflix British Baking Show, and finally heard the rain, coming down in buckets.  Last night it was 72 degrees, this morning it was in the mid 40's.  My BIL drove us to the Little Rock airport, we went through thorough scrutiny at the airport.  Several of our bags went through the x ray machine twice...  and flying back to Atlanta was one bumpy trip as we fly through the storm that went over us last night.  They stopped serving coffee half way through the plane, and then the stewardesses were told to sit down and the back of the plane got no coffee or biscuits (cookies).  We  got to Atlanta safely, got to the train, and had to wait for the train to leave.   Got to our stop , there was one gypsy cab, who drove us home for 15.00 bucks, and we headed out to dinner, not Chinese, but Vietnamese (our usual Saturday night meal.)  The cats finally came out of hiding, and DH watched the World Series, and I was trying to catch up with the daily, and clear out 5 days of emails.

Besides my sweet MIL starting dementia, which means that she forgets to put her hearing aids in, and DH is hard of hearing, and I am deaf in one ear, so not only the women in the house are loved, but really no one understood anything of what anyone said.
