mamaofami Posted June 14, 2021 #26 Share Posted June 14, 2021 Good morning everyone. Sam starts a full day of therapy today and except for lunch he will be working at it till 4pm. I know he’s getting PT and OT but not sure what else. I’m now trying to find out from Samsung how to update my emergency phone numbers on my smart watch since I only have Sam’s number in. I think I will have to also get a lock box for the front door. I’m exhausted this morning because everything is catching up to me. Today’s chores include doing the laundry, cooking dinner, refilling my humidifiers, etc. Stay safe everyone. So far, no reaction to the J and J shot. Not even a sore arm except for a few minutes after the shot. Carol

grapau27 Posted June 14, 2021 #29 Share Posted June 14, 2021 (edited) Thank you for the Daily Rich and Roy for your list,I hope you are okay today on this sad day for you. Paulines late dad was called ROY and we had several cruises as a family group. Roy died in 2008 so we took Pauline's late mam on 6 cruises with us including her last on her 90th birthday cruise on P&O Ventura in 2012. Lazy day today. I had my haircut at 9am then both Pauline and I have been working from home. Pauline loves Monkeys and we always have one with us on cruises. This was breakfast on Independence of the seas April 2019. I hope everyone has a lovely day. Graham. Edited June 14, 2021 by grapau27

It’s too easy to get swept up in the care of others that you neglect yourself until you get so far behind in things like sleep and eating and just taking a moment for yourself that it becomes an emergency. Thanks Rich and Roy and all for my morning sharing time with coffee. Prayers and cheers to all.
garlictown Posted June 14, 2021 #32 Share Posted June 14, 2021 👍Thank You for The Daily, Rich @richwmn and to Roy @rafinmd for the Care and Celebration Lists.😊 Salmon tacos are usually the specially priced ones for Taco Tuesday and I 💗 them! We have cruised on the Celebrity Infinity 2x's to Chile but did not visit the port of the day. A very good option for trying various wines in Porto is by taking a day trip tour on the Douro. Portugal is a favorite country. Right @kazu? We "lived like locals" and would go back in a heartbeat.😉 Happy Flag Day! 🙏Prayers for all in need and to @mamaofami for Sam's therapy. Cruising-along Posted June 14, 2021 #34 Share Posted June 14, 2021 Good morning all! I guess I monkey around every day! Will pass on the salmon tacos -- I love salmon but not in tacos. 🤷♀️ Have never been to the port of the day, but hope to on our Antarctic cruise in 2023. Thanks to all who are posting photos! Thanks to everyone who gave great advice yesterday about the moles. I plan to head out to Home Depot today to pick up some GrubEX. That plus my tried and true TomCat poison worms should hopefully do the trick. The worms work, it just takes awhile because the tunnels are all through the yard. 😞 Killing the food source is a good idea. Thinking today of Roy on his brother's birthday and 4-month anniversary of his death.
smitty34877 Posted June 14, 2021 #35 Share Posted June 14, 2021 Good morning to all. I too ,am thinking of Roy today on his brothers' birthday. @mamaofami, please take care of yourself,as others have said. It is exhausting to be in your situation, I am sure. Tana was apparently in good enough shape to go for her biopsy today. She may have to stay in the hospital tonight so we plan on having her son with us for a day or two. School is over for the summer and since we have a very rainy day today he is on his computer next door. Thank you for your positive thoughts and many prayers. We are all grateful. I told him about salmon tacos and the look on his face was priceless! We will come up with a suitable alternative. There were flags of all sorts flying this morning when Fred the cockapoo and I walked the neighborhood. Several businesses fly Irelands' flag and most had a Pride flag as well. Everyone had their American flags out on the businesses and the homes. The 911 memorial had Police and Fire department flags on either side of our country's flag. The pictures of Chili are so beautiful. Thank you. Terry

atexsix Posted June 14, 2021 #37 Share Posted June 14, 2021 Good morning and happy Monday, my favorite day of the week. For one thing, most people hate Monday's so I like to think I have it to myself. After a day of very heavy rain we're going to gradually dry out with much warmer weather on the way, so we're told. We had one to two inches which will surely help with wildfire season. Hopefully this mugginess will go away, unlike most of you we don't have air conditioning to take some of the humidity out of the air. Living in a climate with an abundance of water can be trying when the rest of the country is sunning on the beach, but at least we stay green as midsummer arrives when many regions are already parched, Snoqualmie Falls is about 5 miles east of us; above it is the Salish Lodge. It seems I've hurt my back again, or the pain moves, it started as right lower back, then left, now it's upper left shoulder area and it's making it difficult to twist my head to the left and right. I might try and find a chiropractor, just hope it's not another money pit. Prayers n thoughts to those that need them. Thanks to all the listers. I don't know about the tacos, there seems to be an art to eating them without the contents spilling out all over and I never learned it, one bite and the ingredients go everywhere. OTOH, @dfish those look delicious, is it okay to eat them with a fork, open face? I'm not really into tortillas. Our neighbors once again reiterated their desire to watch our cat while we cruise but I don't know, one of them is legally blind and we have a lot of stairs, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if something happened, especially when there are other alternatives. Thoughts? I hope everybody has a fantastic start to the week!
JazzyV Posted June 14, 2021 #38 Share Posted June 14, 2021 (edited) Good morning. Thanks for the Daily. All good days. I fly my flag daily. Great quote. I'll pass on the meal as I don't eat salmon. The drink sounds too sweet. I'll take the wine. I have been to today's port on my S. America and Antarctica cruise on the Zaandam. Wow, big storms yesterday late afternoon. Torrential rain, hail hitting so hard against the house I couldn't hear the TV, thunder and lightning. I lucked out as areas all around me had power outages, trees down and flooding. I feared my plants may have taken a hit from the hail, but they seem ok. @rafinmd Thinking of you today. @mamaofami I know those rehab days can be long. Take care, and don't wear yourself out! @smitty34877 I'm glad Tana was able to go for the biopsy. Hopefully she gets some answers. Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list. Approaching Puerto Chacabuco Cascada de la Virgin, Puerto Aysen. I think I did the same tour as others. USN59-79 Posted June 14, 2021 #39 Share Posted June 14, 2021 Kind of cloudy and damp here this morning. However, I put my U.S. flag out first thing. I probably should think about replacing the flag. I bought it during the Bicentennial celebration in 1976. Still have the box and the cost was $1.76 from the Navy Exchange at Subic Bay, Philippines. Lots of memories. I was surprised to see that the Dragon Boat Celebration is observed in Canada. It was a big thing in Taiwan when I was there 1961-1963. DW is preparing a Chinese meal for this evening.
StLouisCruisers Posted June 14, 2021 #40 Share Posted June 14, 2021 @JazzyVyour photos are great! It seems to be quite the scenic port of call. I was looking at the itinerary of the Grand SA&A cruise coming up in January and see Puerto Chacabuco on it. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
bennybear Posted June 14, 2021 #41 Share Posted June 14, 2021 Good morning and thanks all! Love salmon and tacos, but I am a bone magnet😳. Also really enjoyed Portugal and it’s wines. Today’s photos make me want to go to South America! One of my friends rowed in dragon boat races, several did them after recovery from breast cancer. Great news about all the second shots in Canada. We’re double vaxed now, feels great. We’re having some pretty extreme heat today with warnings of thunderstorms, I will be protecting those baby chiles! 34

Quartzsite Cruiser Posted June 14, 2021 #43 Share Posted June 14, 2021 Good morning. Summer has definitely arrived in central Texas -- sunny to partly cloudy days, highs in the mid 90s and humidity. Made an early grocery run before it really got hot and now I need to get the meat ready for the freezer. We don't have a way to fly the flag here, but it is flown everyday in Arizona. It's nice to monkey around some days, and the Chinses dragon boats are interesting to watch racing, but I don't think that happens in Texas. Henry David Thoreau's quote is worth striving to achieve. I love salmon and tacos, but together just doesn't appeal to me. And we'll pass on the drink. We have not been to today's port, but have enjoyed other ports in Chile. @JazzyV and @Mtn2SeaThank you for the pictures. @rafinmd Roy, we are thinking about you as you celebrate Roger's life on his birthday, and celebrate being home a month tomorrow. @kazu Great that you have appointments for both of you to get your second shot. @mamaofami While Sam is busy in rehab getting ready to come home, take care of yourself so you will be in great shape to take care of Sam when the time comes for him to come home. @smitty34877 It is good that Tana was able to have her biopsy. Sending good thoughts that the doctors will have an answer, that it is not too serious and that they can finally help her. She is lucky that you and your DD are there for her and to take care of her son. In 2018 on the Zaandam, they were having Dragon Boat races in Victoria one day when we were there. I'll leave you with a couple of pictures of the Dragon Boat races in Victoria. They drew quite a crowd. Lenda 31

Sharon in AZ Posted June 14, 2021 #47 Share Posted June 14, 2021 Good morning everyone and Happy Monday! Thank you for the Daily Rich. Great collection of days today. Craig put out the flag first thing this morning. I seem to monkey around every day. Thank you for your lists Roy and I’m thinking about you today. Celebrate your brother’s birthday and hold your memories close. Congratulations on your one month after surgery. Tacos are a favorite here and we had shrimp tacos last night and fish tacos (cod) the other day. I make salmon tacos occasionally but I just improvise the toppings, usually lettuce in place of the cabbage slaw. Since we just had tacos we will have something else tonight. It is a bit of a weird day for me today. Craig has to go back to work at least once a week and his supervisor decided that Monday was the day. Very weird to be home alone after 15 months. I have a feeling that they will want him to go back full time soon. Have a great day everyone!

Dismomx5 Posted June 14, 2021 #50 Share Posted June 14, 2021 Good morning and thank you for the Daily Dose of Friendship. It has cooled down considerably in SW Ontario with a predicted high of 22ºC. Quite the change from the weekend, and my poor daughter went camping a couple hours north of here for the week. Not swimming weather to be sure. We don't have a flag, but the neighbour does, and it is often heard flapping against the metal flagpole. with my wind chimes clanging in unison. 😄 Cheers to those who are celebrating something and prayers for those who need them. Thoughts for you, @mamaofami to be gentle with yourself. Blessings to all!
